THE BACHELOR - On the hot seat

Well, that wasn’t nearly as brutal as I had expected.

The penultimate episode of this season’s The Bachelor was a special “The Ladies Tell All” retrospective, where host Chris gathered all of the rejected bachelorettes for a kiss-and-tell session.  The ladies got to dish the dirt on bachelor Matt Grant as well as each other.  Mostly each other, in fact.

The most entertaining bits were when Chris was focusing on the antics or tantrums of a specific candidate and they would play clips from the shows, complete with frank interviews with the ladies about what a witch so-and-so was.  I just  liked the idea that the women were all up there watching video clips of them talking trash… about the women that were sitting right next to them. Marshana and Robin came under the heaviest fire for their dramatics and tactics.  Clearly there is still not a lot of love for them among the other ladies, although Robin seemed almost gracious and conciliatory.  Almost.

Chris interviewed Amanda, everyone’s favorite shunned contestant (well, my favorite anyway).  They had a Montage of Meeps, Amanda’s nervous hiccup noises, and of course, footage of her getting booted off the show.  She said that for a moment she thought Matt was playing a practical joke on her to get her back for her own elaborate fake-parent prank, but sadly, he wasn’t joking.  I still think she would have made a better choice than Shayne or Chelsea, but that’s not my call to make, is it?

Matt Grant himself appeared at the end of the show, sporting some facial hair and a David Beckham buzz cut.  I fully expected a dog pile session on Matt – due to the cleverly edited promos – but things were downright civil.  The only moment when Matt seemed to squirm a little was when he had to explain his decision to Amanda, which he did fairly well.  He also got to use his trademark “If I’m being honest” phrase – twice! 

But who did he end up with – Shayne or Chelsea?  They carefully avoided saying who Matt had chosen.  The only clue came at one point when he was describing how he had more intense, loving feelings for Chelsea and Shayne.  He said Chelsea’s name first and seemed to stumble a little on Shayne’s name. 

BUT!  Here’s my theory on that.  Matt ended up choosing Shayne, not Chelsea, but backstage he was coached by the producers to say Chelsea’s name first whenever he referred to the two girls, just to throw us off.  If he said Shayne’s name first, everyone – myself included – would have screamed, “Ah-HA!  He picked Shayne!”  So they were using a little misdirection there.

Am I wrong?  Probably.  I usually am about these things.  I guess we’ll all find out next week when Matt drops to one knee and proposes… but to whom?

Yes you are wrong dude.

But you got Chelsea or Shayne right. Yep. Down to Chelsea and Shayne. The deciding factor is who will be the best long term, the mother of his children?

So let's look at his personality again and his values. He gave the heave-ho to the hootchies first, that was painfully clear.

He's playful in a good sport kind of way, not a tourist kind of way. He's the youngest of a ton of brothers. He should be playful as the youngest often is, the youngest retaining that childlike quality. That's why he likes Shayne the gymnast and actor. Chelsea is fun too, with her old west pictures in her home town.

Matt is financial. Chelsea being in pharmaceutical sales is financial. Big money there and Matt must know this.

Matt has stable if testosterone driven family. Chelsea's parents are still together and regular folks. Moreover would Matt like the mother of his children kissing other men on screen? What kind of kids like that in Mom? I don't see it.

However if Matt loves California girls, and since he was ten, Shayne is one. Chelsea is only one by geography, living in Santa Barbara. However Chelsea looks equally beautiful and more classic and romantic than pornstar. Plus Matt has a professional image to maintain. If he were an actor or soccer player like Becks then Shayne is his Posh. However, Matt absolutely must be able to inspire the trust of the rich folk he services. The rich folk may love Shayne but as an LA Confidential type . . . whereas Chelsea and Scarlett Johannson share a romantic classic look. And Scarlet just got engaged.

I rest my case.

Matt will pick Shayne for sure. I can't tell from watching the shows "women tell all". But I could tell by the preview that ABC showed the last episode. They showed that he proposed to the girl, who's wearing a thick braceless. From the pictures that I've seen from this web site

it shows that Shayne is the one, who's wearing the thick braceless, and not Chelsea. I screamed when I found out the clue, and knowing that he'd pick Shayne, and not Chelsea.

Well, finally the bachelor gets it right. Tonight's ending with Chelsea was long over due. It was very ironic, Chelsea calling Shayne fake, if that wasn't the pot calling the kettle black! And honestly, when she was with Matt on his last date, she needed to hear him say "he loves her" in order for her to feel like she was really in love????? What is that? Well, at least he got it right, AND...best of all he stood up to Chelsea, defended Shayne and realized that YES..he had made the right decision. Shayne was by far the most mature, fun, beautiful and humble of them all....way to go Shayne.

I agree with Chelsea. When this does not make her a star and the shiny wears off her new toy, she will be gone. I can't believe he picked her, but maybe they are both so shallow they might make a small puddle when together. Ugh!

I am happy that Matt picked Shayne. She is the right woman for him and he is for her. I prayed every time he gave out the rose. Please, please, please do not miss Shayne. I am happy, happy that finally they are together and I wish ABC plans for a wedding episode with both of them. They are a successful Bachelor episode and they both deserve the best. Matt & Shayne complement each other. I was so happy when it turned out to be Shayne though I thought he'd picked Chelsea. My opinion is that Shayne coming from a home where her parents have been divorced more than once, is going to work extra hard to make that relationship work. I think their future is bright. Shayne does have divaesque qualities (what's wrong with that?) but she's not spoiled. She is a sweet, kind soul. All the best to them!

I had it all figured out
when they showed one of the girls holding a rose...the pale hand was Shayne's...lightcolored skin compared to Chelsea's darker skin. I think Shayne is definitely beautiful but young in her ways..... I think they had better chemistry but when
she asked if there were palm trees in London...that was a sincere question....not much depth at times.
I wish them well...and maybe next time the director won't give it all away by showing the hand holding the rose.

I'm so glad he picked Shayne! Matt is so lucky! She is very beautiful inside and out and most of all, she has a great sense of humor. I am all for natural beauty but she'd look gorgeous even if she was BALD or without make-up! The way she clings on to Matt like a monkey when she hugs him is hilarious! I cried when she gave him the present and especially during the proposal! They're so sweet together! He is right about all her qualities and esp. the "there's not a selfish bone in her body." She does seem very generous, not very many people buy homes for their parent these days at her age, she's had to work hard at a young age and has had a tough childhood. She is the sweetest, most humble and most affectionate person out of all those girls, not to mention also being the peace-maker of the group. Chelsea should have kept her big and ugly mouth shut because if anybody was a fake, it was her and she just made herself look really bad because Shayne was nice to ALL those girls. I hope Matt and Shayne stay together..forever and ever and have many beautiful children! PLEASE ABC, do an AFTER THE FINAL ROSE show on Matt and Shayne!

Best of luck to Matt and Shayne! They are great together because aside from being so much in love with each other, they always make each other laugh. Shayne is so SWEET and FUNNY! I love the episode when they went to Sun Valley and she was looking at the compact mirror she brought with her and showed Matt the blush brush and lipliner that was in her skii jacket pocket--he was laughing so hard and she was laughing along with him saying she wanted to look good for him. Matt and Shayne are a perfect combination. The "monkey" pet name cracks me up...she does hold on to him like a monkey. I hope they get married real soon and that everything works out for them.

I agree with Canaqua, just because Shayne prefers being blonde and likes to tan, doesn't mean she's a bimbo--Chelsea is the bimbo, taking off her undergarments and making out with Matt without them---EWW!!! HELLO! Who is the pornstar now? Chelsea is disgusting in every way. I'm glad Matt found out who she really was at the end of the show, that girl has a big mouth that she can't seem to control, she kisses like a maniac, looks like she's going to suck Matt's brain. She probably looks like a man without all that make up because she is not pretty at all, nowhere near as attractive as Shayne and I don't mean that just physically. All she really had to offer Matt was her body (her height helped as well because Shayne is only 5"2). Men are always turned on when somebody throws themselves at them. Unfortunately for Chelsea that was not enough for Matt. Shayne has it all...good morals, humble, sweet, generous, fun, loving, caring and respectful. I hope they stay together.
