DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES - Something wicked this way comes
It was Mother's Day with a sinister twist this week on Desperate Housewives, as dark forces swirl about Wisteria Lane. We're getting close to the season finale and events are moving inexorably to a big messy climax... and somebody is going to die.
I made up that "somebody is going to die" part, but I believe it. The whole storyline about Katherine's psycho ex-husband Wayne is going to end violently, I think. The Kayla/Lynette conflict has the possibility of death as well. I wouldn't put it past Devil Child to bring about the death of one of the twins, perhaps as retaliation for being forced into psychiatric care? Kayla is that evil. She's a little Hannah Belle Lecter.
Speaking of evil, Mike's Southern mother was pure sacharrine malice, wasn't she? I liked how she called the Civil War "The War of Northern Agression," that was brilliant. Her visit to the Mayer home was certainly The War of Passive Agression. I felt bad for Susan - you know things are bad when you have to fake going into labor just to get away from your mother-in-law.
I'm looking forward to the next two episodes. Evil Kayla is scheming to eliminate Lynette from the picture, and Lynette's loss of control when she slapped Kayla in the store is just what she needs to throw a coup d'etat in the Scavo household. Meanwhile, Wayne is planning something as well and I'm afraid it's considerably less subtle and more violent than Kayla's plotting. I'm hoping that Katherine gets a chance to use that Anti-Wayne pistol - preferably explaining the whole mystery behind Dylan. Is she really Katherine and Wayne's daughter?
Oh, and I almost forgot that Susan had her baby finally! Congratulations Susan, even if you are a fictional character. Hey, imaginary people deserve to be happy too.

"Hannah Belle Lecter"? That is brilliant Dave, just brilliant.

What are the writers thinking? 2 of my fav shows- Grays and Desperate and they cant come up with better story lines for the char's? and they got a raise? Shame on you guys! make it real make it natural your going off into the wacky twilight zone guys!, let it flow free you've lost the quality stories of how you began.

I agree- the stories are getting alittle too weird but at least things move along and each episode offers some "closure". I was pretty let down with Susan's labor (or lack of it) I expected that to be one of the more hilarious situations of the season- I think I left the room for 30 seconds and came back to see her holding her baby!!

I hope Kayla rots. i really do not like that devil child. ik itd be awful to kill her off (or would it), but she's got to go. Part of me wants Lynette to say "told ya so" to Tom and have Tom realize that Lynette is more important than his bastard baby, but thats just me cuz i hate kayla. lol.
I'm glad to see Edie gone, she was getting on my nerves. i was hoping t have her killed off by the tornado but no such luck.
This show is making me violent. lol.
Anyway, cant wait for the 2 hour finale!

I would also like Kayla gone before she destabilizes the household any further. I'd have her initiate some dangerous mischief (e.g. fire, poison) and accidentally get killed by the same method that she planned to injure or kill someone else. Rachel Fox is a fine actress to elicit such violence thoughts from otherwise normal strangers. I am reminded of how much I enjoyed the horror film "The Bad Seed".

Hey so do you know that people here in the south have called it "the war of northern aggression"? Some places still observe Confederate Memorial Day. It's a whole other world down here...

Kayla and Lynette *both* need some cool off time, and I hope Lynette realizes just how antagonistic she's been to her. Kayla's not entirely innocent, but I wonder if Lynette even stopped to consider that Kayla actually warms up to her sometimes? She looked pretty scared about the cancer, was glad to see her post-tornado, looked hurt that Lynette was spending time with her because she was "supposed to," and maybe just maybe was as scared as the twins were that Rick was gonna take Lynette away. Kayla loves her daddy and tho she said he couldn't make her love Lynette, I think she at least cares a smidge.

I can't believe the season finale! I loved the show but I hate the way it ended tonight!!! Why in the world would they jump ahead 5 years. Obviously when it comes back on in the fall they are going to rewind and do sort of a flashback thing...but wow they really surprised me with the way everyone turns out in 5 years. And what in the world happened to Mike and Susan!!!! I hope they have some good stuff up their sleeves for the fall because I don't like the story line the way it ended.

Heather I agree, what's up with the 5 year deal? Oh well...good show tonight and looking forward to next season!

I really liked the finale, up until the 5 years later ending. What were they thinking? The way it ended was like the show is over forever and it better not be over!!

The person who wrote the comment about the show being sick and the people watching it are deranged needs to get a life go blog some where else hello u don't have to watch it!! But anyways i love the show but i to did not care for the ending and hope it leads to a great season in the fall, whats up with gabby and the kids and her outfit i think it's going to be a very good next season.

I am so glad that Kayla is gone. That little girl was a nut just like her mom. But, WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO MIKE!! And whhat's with this five year later deal? When the show comes back next season is it oing to be five years later or is this just some big joke?
Posted by: Victoria | May 18, 2008 at 08:21 PM
wow... the five year jump ahead came out of nowhere! why would the writers and producers jump ahead that far? the teasers they left us with are baffling, to say the least... who is that with Susan and what happens with Mike? what about Edie? poor Lynette... her family seems to be imploding:( Gabby, looking haggard with kids running wild, should be interesting... can't believe we have to wait until the fall to see how all of this will start to play out... depressing finale:(
Posted by: Anne | May 18, 2008 at 08:23 PM
Oh my gosh!!! What was with the ending?? Where did Mike go?? Why does Gabby have 2 kids?? So many questions!! I can't wait for the next season!!! Oh and I'm so glad that little girl Kayla is gone! She was really evil! I just hope the next season isn't a bunch of flashbacks cause thats going to suck...

This 2 Hour season finale was amzaing!!We finally found out what the truth behind Kathryn's lies to Dylan, thankgod she shot Wayne, I was so happy that all the lady's on Wisteria Lane helped her out. When Ellie came back for my favorite character Gaby to get her money,it was so funny when Carlos opened up the closet door.Whats interesting is that at the end of season 1 or 2 was it Susan was being held hostage in Kathryn;s house too well it was Mikes House but I just found that ironic, I thoght Wayne was going to kill Bree and Kathryn, Adam to the rescue he is still hot even when he is all bruised up. But why the 5 tear jump, I didn;t like that ata ll. How could they make my favorite character Gaby fat and tired looking with children? In that last sene when Susan is kissing Brian from Queer as Folk, what was that? Did Mike die and now she is remarried? The 5 year fast forward was a mistake.. Other than that it was the best Finale they have ever had.

If they're going to start next season off with Gabby having kids they should have made them a little younger. I think they should have kept Kayla and found a way to deal with her. Not all of us have the privilege of shipping our evil step children away.

I agree.. I think that jumping ahead 5 years is a huge mistake and so is writing Mike off the show. Guess we will just have to wait and see how it goes next season. I read that D.H. will run until 2011.If the writers are having trouble coming up with material for future episodes maybe they should consult with real desperate housewives. :)

OMG, I am glad there is a blog so I can share my thoughts on tonight's show. Mostly it was a good ending... liked the tying of the loose ends with Kathryn and Dylan. But what happened to Mike and why does Gabby have to look so haggard cause she has kids?
Posted by: Josie | May 18, 2008 at 08:55 PM
I can't believe the ending tonight.I hope this will be just a BAD DREAM ....Where was EDDIE and the new guy with SUSAN ???????I felt like the last 5 minutes the ending was just thrown together in like ideas they couldn't agree on that they got out of the garbage can if this is the real deal for the fall you blew it BIG TIME>>>>>>

was this the end for desparete forever?
Posted by: chicago | May 18, 2008 at 09:04 PM
Another great show! I bet Gaby's kids will turn out to be adopted or foster kids. The oldest looked a lot older than 5. It's a riot that her kids aren't "beautiful" people like here; it would just kill her. Of course she's a frump now, why not if Carlos is blind and she's frustrated with her kids. Maybe Mike went back on drugs or something?

The last few minutes were so wierd. I hate when shows end like this, they make you think of nothing other than what will happen all summer. It was really crazy, I don't get why they ended it like that.

I still can not believe what happened....this better not be the end. I have way to much time invested.
