MEN IN TREES - Love is like a boomerang that doesn't always work properly

Marin_2

One of the things I like about Men in Trees is that each episode is built around a central theme.  This week’s show, Wander/Lust, was all about letting someone you love go out into the world and how that affects everyone involved.  Jack gets a part-time job offer in Anchorage that would bring him closer to The Other Woman in his life and Marin has to come to terms with how she feels about it, while Patrick develops a sudden urge to see the world and is “set free” by Annie in a poignant way.

The big deal on this episode was that Marin finally got to meet Julia, the woman that survived the ship disaster with Jack and has become an important figure in his life – a little too important for Marin’s comfort.  Jack invites Julia and her manic-depressive sculptor husband Jim over for an uncomfortable dinner at their place, where it is revealed that Jack will be staying at Julia’s apartment in Anchorage a couple nights a week.  Marin is rightfully upset at this little nugget of info that Jack chose not to share with her.  I’d  be P.O.’d if my boyfriend pulled something like that on me.  If I had a boyfriend, that is.

Ultimately Marin opts for the “If you love something, set it free” school of thought and tells Jack that she’s OK with him taking the job and even with him staying at Julia’s place.  I don’t like where this is heading.  Can’t you just see it?  Julia gets in fight with manic-depressive husband, takes solace in Jack’s company and a bottle of wine, they share a kiss, one thing leads to another…  But what can Marin do in a situation like this?  She’s kind of stuck.  If she objects to the whole thing, she ends up being the bad guy and maybe pushing Jack away, and then Jack ends up taking solace in Julia’s company and a bottle of wine, etc.  Either way you slice it, the scenario ends the same:  Jack, Julia, a bottle of wine, and a kiss.

The problem with setting people free is that sometimes they don’t come back.  Of course, I could be totally wrong about the Jack/Julia thing…  But am I?

As always this episode was fantastic! The writing on MIT is truly brilliant. I am keeping my fingers crossed that ABC realizes this and gives us a third season. I will be lost without MIT, so RENEW IT ALREADY ABC!

Dave,
Everyone seems to be speculating about what will happen between Jack and Julia, but the way I see it, is that Jack is really in love with Marin. I mean really. I don't think he would do anything with Julia. He's too good. Seems like nowadays there is no trust in love anymore, but perhaps jack will surprise us for good.

sandra

I don't think Jack is good at all,,I wouldn't trust his as far as I can throw him. He always has a "reason" why he didn't come clean...and tell me...if you were "found" at sea, wouldn't you call home..duh..I just wish Marin and Chase would get it together,,,he is a much more interesting character.and lets go back to concentrate on the going ons in the pub...get out of Marin's house.

Dee

I think you may be on to something Dave, but I'm hoping Cash will kiss Marin and Julia will kiss Jack and NEITHER OF THEM will stray! Deciding that they truly love each other and that's that. But we will see... Just keep the Men In Trees shows coming - Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Emma

I think Jack is decent and honest to stray - that's what makes him so attractive. Although not telling Marin that he and Julia were sharing an apartment was not so decent, it's still not cheating. I love this show and cannot wait to see what happens. I hope for many years to come!

Hannah

I agree, Jack is too decent and honest to ever cheat on Marin. It will be very interesting though to see where they go with this new twist. I live for this show, it is the only show I watch without fail. It is my favorite, my three sisters all love it, and my Mom and Grandma feel the same way, so this show hits all ages.

Jack's a good, decent guy, he'll do the right thing ... not to fear !! God, I love this show ...GO MIT !!!

Jennifer

You're right, Dave. Sometimes when you set someone free, they don't come back to you. Sometimes they do, and the relationship is better for it. It's a risk either way. I agree with Lbird that Jack is very much in love with Marin (and she with him). They may be going through some tests in their relationship, but I believe they will come out the other side ok. At least, that is my hope, and I do see it as a viable outcome.

April 30, 2008,
Why is Men in Trees not on tonight! What happened! Is the season over? What's Up? Boston Legal is in it's spot! I use to like BL, but it has become too political!
Linda

Joy

I enjoy Men in Trees and have found a reason to look forward to "Wednesdays". I turned the channel to eight, so I thought and to my SURPRISE, there was Boston Legal. So not expecting Boston Legal and was not pleasantly surprised. I guess you can now say that I am a fan. So ABC, when will Men in Trees return? Not looking forward to "Wednesdays" anymore. |-(

Jennie

As always another great Men In Trees show! I sure hope ABC reconsiders and give all of us a third season in the same time slot!!!

Pam

WHY does ABC keep replacing Men In Trees with junk like Boston Legal? When will we see our favorite uplifting show at a regular time? Frustrating!

Katina Cruz

The moon must be full tonight. How can you blame Boston Legal for Men In Trees being bumped? Boston Legal got moved from its Tuesday Night slot. Legal gets better ratings, wins emmys and other awards every year, and frankly is a superior show though I like Men in Trees. Let's try growing up.

Come on people at ABC lets give MIT another season. You kept bouncing the show all over the place so how can you expect viewers to find it when it's moving all the time. MIT is a great feel good show that sells...FYI These days happiness sells even with drama!

Lunarmeow

At least ABC should tell us when the next episode will air - but there's nothing on the web site! No mention of the next air date! That makes me want to boycott ABC totally. Between work and grad school I only watch a few shows, and MIT is too precious to lose.

Annette Minnick

I do not know why Men in Trees is continually bumped off for some other program, this is a wonderful program and people cannot follow what is going on and who is who when it is always replaced with something else. Please stop moving this show around!!!!!!.

SharonGingrich

Please bring back Men In Trees. I love that show and it gave me something to look forward to on t.v. on Wednesday evenings. There is so much crap on t.v. these days as far as these so-called reality shows. I'm sick of them. So, pull your act together ABC and bring back MIT!!!

Nancy

I, like other MIT viewer faithfuls who have posted comments, was very disappointed to find that Men in Trees was suddenly missing from the Wed night lineup the past few weeks. I've become quite addicted to both Grey's and Dancing with the Stars, but as good as both of these shows are, there's a void that only MIT can fill. The humor and life lessons contained in each episode are wonderful (and the music rocks!).

Each week I go out of my way to watch only a few shows and one of these is MIT. ABC, please keep it on the air!!

Patty

I truly enjoy MIT. Each week I wonder if my TBO has failed when MIT is not on my list of recorded shows. I scan the menu to see if it's there but - no. Sad disappointment. I don't care what time it airs because the shows I really like I set up to record regularly - such as MIT. Please bring it back. Thanks

Margaret

Men in Trees is the best show on television! Why was it not given a fair chance to make it? With all the inane, crap out there, why can't we have just one good show. ABC has lost my respect and my allegiance.

Janet King, Brownsville, TX

The only thing worth watching on tv is MIT. Please renew for a third season. It is funny, intelligent and witty. MIT has everything that a show should have.

Shawn Slack

MIT is a funny, quirky, well written show that should be given a chance to continue making us laugh and feel good. Please bring it back for a third season. MIT is as good as Greys Anatomy. MIT deserves a permanent home and time slot where all of the loyal viewers can laugh each week. ABC has not had a very good line up and now that it has a great show, ABC is about to prove why it deserves to be last if you do not bring back MIT.

Amy in Alaska

MIT was MY show. I watched it alone, with my dinner and a drink. Ive been there since the beginning. I feel very upset that it is canceled. I loved that show. Why????????????????

wes

MIT was one of the best shows around, Its to bad abc could not see that the line up time was bad, putting it up with a allready propular show. Like it has been said before there is so much crap on t.v. these days that abc takes off a really good show and finds some stupid reality show, Im really sick of them. Please bring back MIT.

Kim

Bring back MIT !!!
