CASHMERE MAFIA - Of Dogs and Men
It was nice to see the girls in alpha female mode in this week’s
Cashmere Mafia. After the previous episode’s
heartaches and betrayals, the Mafia needed to kick a little butt. Not literally, of course; there was still a
noticeable lack of swordplay. I can
still hope…
A billionaire guy made a move on Juliet’s hotel empire,
buying up shares left and right, and then made a move on Juliet herself. Billionaire Guy was far too smug and
presumptuous. He assumed that
controlling interest of the hotel chain and Juliet was a done deal, so of
course he received a well-deserved Cashmere Mafia Smackdown. That’s when one of the girls puts somebody in
their place and then spins around and leaves before the other guy/gal can get a
final word in. In your face, Billionaire
Guy!
Plus, I thought Billionaire Guy was too old for Juliet. She needs to borrow a page from Mia’s book
and just hook up with some studly young dog walker or construction worker or
something for a meaningless tryst. Juliet needs to let her perfectly coiffed hair down and forget about
maintaining her rigid façade of self-control. It would help her put ex-husband Davis firmly in the past.
What’s the deal with the Juliet/Davis divorce, anyway? I thought it was going to stretch out for a few more episodes, but Juliet referred to herself as “divorced,” as in past-tense. I was expecting to see the divorce storyline play out a little more – maybe show how the break-up affects their daughter, or at least show the final terms of the divorce settlement. In the previous episode they sort of implied that Juliet had the upper hand when she had Davis’ car impounded, but I thought it was weird that the divorce was finalized off-screen. Am I reading too much into one line of dialogue?
Mia finally cut Jason the tall surgeon loose and good
riddance. That guy was a cold fish. She could do way better. They began the episode jogging in the park and
Jason was going on about how busy he is, blah blah. You just knew he wasn’t going to last.
In addition to being as emotionally distant as a Henrik
Ibsen play, Jason fell asleep on top of Mia, who was all dolled up in lingerie,
right before they have sex. I was
aghast. Sure, the guy’s a busy doctor with a brutal
schedule, but dude – it’s Lucy Liu! Find
the energy! He got the Cashmere Mafia
Smackdown, too.
Jason got kicked to the curb by Mia and replaced (in a
manner of speaking) by a foster dog that also has trouble staying awake. Mia agreed to take care of the dog for a few
days but grew inexplicably attached to it, despite the fact that it spends most
of its time in a near-comatose state. However,
she failed the dog “life partner” test administered by a sanctimonious guy from
the animal shelter played by legendary character actor Wallace Shawn. It was great seeing Wallace, even if it was
just a short role. You might remember
him from “My Dinner with Andre” or from his role in “The Princess Bride” where
he kept on saying “Inconceivable!” I
love that guy.
Anyway, Mia convinced Wallace Shawn that she and the dog were made for each other and in a nice bit of symmetry, ended the episode jogging with her new “life partner” in Central Park. I liked that. Mia deserves some unconditional love, even if it is from a dog.

Can someone let me know when Cashmere Mafia is going to air again? I had it set on my DVR series and now it shows "0 episodes scheduled to be recorded"
I hope this show has not been cancelled. It is one of my favorites.

Where is Cashmere going? Is it cancelled? Is the season over? The only other show I watch is Nip/Tuck and that is over for the season so I am out of options!

I sure hope this show isn't cancelled! It's been set as series priority 1 on my DVR since I saw the pilot. I am a business strategist and the women I work with refer to this show all the time--it's awesome!

we need our cashmere mafia!!!!! for every woman who enjoys being powerful and defeating the ancient stereotypes of being a female!

I blame it on the old, unattractive dude they had chasing Juliet in the last episode. If it's a given that the viewers will *all* be women, why are those making casting decisions still reluctant to let a woman have an attractive partner? We don't like old, fat, hairy bodies either!

Cashmire Mafia is my absolute favorite show, and has been since I saw the very first episode. Please get this show back on the air asap! Every Wednesday I look for it on the schedule and every Wednesday I am disappointed and afraid it won't come on again!!
Please put it on the air again soon.

One more thing, Cashmire Mafia exudes female confidence and success, exactly what our daughters, nieces and grandaughters need to see. I am 27 years old and it makes me feel empowered, and glad to be a woman, imagine what it can do for our young girls!

i really don't know what you people are doing over there but it would be a mistake to cancel this show i think it's one of the best shows out there to date please bring it back ASAP

I LOVE CASHMERE MAFIA!! PLEASE DON'T CANCEL! It's the only reason I even watch television.. I can't stand all these reality and game shows that air every night...seriously.. who the heck watches that crap? Bring back the mafia!!
Posted by: Tam | April 13, 2008 at 08:56 PM
I am starting to get worried. Why doesn't ABC have any updates on their website? I am as obsessed with this show as I was with Sex and the City. The Mafia is the best show to come on in a long time. Why won't they tell us anything? ABC Execs: Do Not Cancel This Show!!!!
Posted by: Stacy | April 17, 2008 at 07:23 PM
BRING BACK THE MAFIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Susan | April 20, 2008 at 09:12 PM
Please oh please, what is the DEAL, there's no news, and no new episodes..... how much do I have to beg to get more of this show?!!!
Posted by: Alex | April 20, 2008 at 09:14 PM
I read that the show was canceled because the ratings went down by the 7th (the last one) episode aired..but this is ridiculous! (I read that it went from 10 million viewers to about 4 million). You guys didn't even give it a chance! There are MILLIONS of people who absolutely LOVE the show (like Me!), and I know for a fact it would have done extremely well if the airing schedule wasn't so crazy during the strike. PLEASE RECONSIDER THE SHOW! A lot of people are saying that Lipstick Jungle is its biggest competition, but I've watched Lipstick Jungle when it premiered, but never stuck to it because it seriously sucks (poor directing and producing). Cashmere is definitely more entertaining, and the quality of the show is impeccable! PLEASE BRING BACK CASHMERE MAFIA!

I don't have time to watch T.V. during the week or at regularly scheduled programming, but I was keeping up with this show by watching missed episodes online. I hope they bring back this show soon, I really miss it. I love watching powerful women in top level careers, try to balance their everyday lives with family and relationships. It helps me relate to them and really makes me what to go shopping! This is a good image to promote to young girls too!

PLEASE ABC - DO NOT CANCEL CASHMERE MAFIA! MY TWO NEW FAVORITES THIS YEAR WERE CASHMERE AND LIPSTICK JUNGLE. WHAT'S WITH ALL THE COPYCAT GAMESHOWS! THESE WOMAN SHOWS ARE SOOO MUCH BETTER!
