Crazy times
Hey guys!
Starr’s gone through some crazy stuff during the past few weeks. Between Langston leaving and then not leaving and then Ray being shot at the airport – it’s been insane!! BTW, aren’t we so happy that Langston is staying in Llanview? She’ll be there when Starr has the baby and Starr couldn’t be more grateful. Now Starr can really settle down and start preparing for the birth.
Starr’s main go to person has always been Todd especially when she was younger. So now it’s interesting for Starr to see Todd for who he really is and at the same time see how wonderful Blair is. I love how OLTL has shown what a great mom Blair is. She’s really been there for Starr to comfort and guide her like she’s been doing throughout the entire pregnancy. She’s been her main support. I’m also happy that Starr and Cole seem to be getting closer these days and are able to talk more freely with each other.
I love that Starr really needs her mom and needs comfort from her to make it through this experience. Starr’s always been a very independent and introverted person. It’s nice to see that she needs to lean on someone in this situation and that that person is her mother. I know that if it were me, I would not be anywhere without my mom. She’s always been my main support through everything and I am there for her. With Starr leaning so much on Blair, it reminds the audience that Starr is going through a very grown up experience. It shows she is still a child who needs her mom and craves that support and love from her.
Like I’ve said so many times before - even though pregnancy is a beautiful thing and a blessing, it’s also a really scary thing for a girl my age to go through. Starr is really vulnerable right now. She’s been through a lot in her life but this is by far the most difficult and emotional.
Have great week.
XO,
Kristen
Start talking with your parent or child with tips from the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy:
Starr’s right. She IS tremendously lucky to have the unwavering support of her mom throughout this time. Blair has been strong for her daughter in the face of some pretty difficult situations during this pregnancy – the breakup of her own marriage and the custody fight over Sam, just to name two. Even though she doesn’t necessarily agree with Starr’s decision to make an adoption plan with Marcie McBain, she is standing by her daughter every step of the way, including doctor appointments, legal battles, Lamaze classes, and more. Not every pregnant teenager has the benefit of such a committed parent.
Committed parents are important not just during a pregnancy, or after a pregnancy when there is a baby to care for, but BEFORE there is a pregnancy at all. Teens need their parents – not just to drive them places or hand out allowance money – but for a million reasons large and small. Parents are the #1 influence on their teens when it comes to decisions about sex. Parents matter more than media, school, friends, siblings or religion. Teens learn more about values and what’s appropriate at home that they do anywhere else. That’s why it’s important for parents to realize how influential they are, and to communicate with their kids about sex, love, and relationships throughout their lives. It’s not just one single “Talk” about the birds and the bees – it’s an entire lifetime of conversations about all of these topics and more.

I really loved the scene with Starr and Cole outside the house, and how it really seems they are getting closer again. I thought it was awesome how Starr was able to talk to Cole about the contractions, and how the baby could come at any day now. I think it will be emonitally hard on both of them if they have are told the baby is dead, but I am hoping that they will be able to be there for each other, rather then going through it alone. I cannot wait for the birth to happen.

I think it is interesting to have Starr see Todd in a different light; but, why are they writing Starr as perpetually blind to Blair and Marcie's many faults?
I hope that the relationship between Todd and Starr is repaired eventually, it's sad to see it destroyed for a relationship that will more than likely one day be a distant memory (Starr/Cole).

why are you always hard on todd? he does most of the things he does out of love!!! starr keeps blaming him for getting her pregnent? she being selfish. he didn't make her have sex did he now? i'm really irritated by the way the show makes him look like a monster.
and if your calling blair? blair of all people a "good mom" lol then u must be on crack cuz thats dope!
todd only wanted to move to hawaii for one reason and one reason only, to protect the family that he LOVES!!!!!!!!

Kristen,
I love how you are doing this story because this is a major problem with kids my age. A girl in high school (freshman) is having a baby. And she is 1 year older than me. It scares me that people are having sex at such a young age. And now u r doing a story to help others. You r doing a great job.
Your fan,
Rachel

hey! you did great on this storyline. i can't wait until the actual birth, i know you did a terrific job. Hopefully Tood gets caught before the baby gets handed over to him.

Dear Kirsten,
I can't imagine a teenager having a baby (even though it happens all the time). I am a 26 year old woman and the thought of having a baby seems daunting at even at my age. When you think about everything a baby needs, and all the responsibility that comes from having that child it gets kind of scary. When you are tired at the end of the day you can't pawn the child off on anyone. When the child becomes ill you always need to be there. I know this is a very old cliche but its true, "It's easy to make a baby, but it's harder to take care of a baby". Having a child is very hard work. Even though I dont have any children. I know how hard it because I work as a teacher. Being a mom is a twenty four hour job. A mothers work is never done. Just when you think your day is over it starts over again. Being a mother is one of the hardest and arduous jobs anyone could ever have.
Sincerely,
Anna Pino

Kristen,
About 25 years ago, I gave my son up for adoption when he was one day old. While many of the life details are different (my life would be *almost* as good as a soap character's!), the basic struggle of wanting to do what is best for the child above all else is the same. Starr's going to have to make many difficult decisions in the days ahead - each one life altering for her *and* the people around her. If she keeps her focus on what is best for her child, the decisions will become more clear.
You're doing a fabulous job with your portrayal of Starr. I know that adoption was best for my son, that I was unequipped to offer a child the stability required for a happy, healthy home. I chose the parents of my son; they have graciously allowed me to watch my son's life from afar with yearly pictures and a cherished letter. He's had a good life and I've had the peace of mind knowing that I gave my child the best life that I could.
Count me as one of your fans!
