Gilyeat Family - Kansas City, Kansas
Attention all Extreme Makeover Home Edition fans! It's Johnny Littlefield here, and each week I would normally just sit here and tell you how incredibly deserving the family is, well since all our families are deserving, I put fingers to keys to speak about our great volunteers!
The question that I am most frequently asked is "do you guys really build that house in a week?” The answer is no...No we don’t, we actually build it in about five days! In order to pull off this incredible feat, is with the help of hundreds if not thousands of volunteers. From the builder to their subs to the little old ladies sweeping the floors, the only way we get this done is through all of these dedicated angels.
One of these angels that I speak of is a gentleman by the name of STRETCH. He and I created not only the Monster truck bed that you saw on Sunday night's show but the sculpture as well. This scrap metal Picasso is and was a brilliant addition to the Kansas City house and if the bed and sculpture wasn't enough, he, along with Daniel's marine buddies build the flagpole as well.
It's men like STRETCH and thousands of volunteers like him that put the EXTREME into our title each week. To all our volunteers, be it construction, vendors, decor, the people cheering us on in the spectators section in the middle of the night, and our guest artists. Thank You! For without you, we are nothing! And thank you again to my friend STRETCH!
All Respect! Johnny

Ty and his crew are to be congratulated on this episode! What a touching experience. Your best yet!
The Gilyeat Family is one very special family who reaches out to everyone.
ABC, Ty, crew, and all the wonderful people, along with our outstanding troops deserve a huge Well Done!!

It was so inspiring to hear this story and to see all that Daniel had been through. Nevertheless, he had strength to go on and continue being a proud dad for his kids.
Its so good to know that there are people like you on EMHE that make such a difference is people's lives especially for people like this, who have given so much to this country and now you give it back to them.
Lots Of respect to all of You!!

I often wonder how the families you help cope with all that they have to deal with. I am so glad you are there to help them. I watch your show every week, and it always delights me to watch these families begin to blossom and grasp there full potential. I am also reminded that even though I have my own problems they seem so minor compared with what other people have to cope with.Bless you all and your wonderful show. Janet...

What Extreme Makeover has done for so many unfortunate families is amazing. The last 2 shows, Daniel and his family and Patrick Henry and his family touched my heart so much. I took life for granted until your show, but these 2 gentlemen have showed me what life really is, I now cherish my life so much more and all that I have. I will continue on watching your show. Thank you Extreme Makeover for showing me what my life means to me.

I cant tell you how this family has touched my heart. I watch the show all the time but I cried my eyes out on this one. Being a single dad and raising 4 children I give him 100% support. You are a good man and that is why this good thing has happened to you. God bless you and your family. Being a single mom I know how that is. All the best to you Gilyeat Family

Thank you, thank you for doing a home for a marine who sacrificed everything for our freedom. It made me wish all of them could be honored in a very special way. We are forever indebted to all the servicemen who put their lives on the line and have given their lives so we can enjoy our freedom. Thank you just isn't enough to express our appreciation for your service.

I was so impressed by this Marine and what he has given up for our country. I worked for the Marine Corp. and was married to one and would be honored to have a chance to talk with him. The night that show was on I was feeling so down and after watch his courage and strength it gave me renewed hope.
Thank-you
Colleen

I think that everything Ty and the rest of the team do is so awesome. I especially liked the one with the guy with the 3 or 4 girls and his wife divorced him when he came home from the service and he lost his leg over in Iraq i think it was. I cried through the whole show it was great. I just love what you guys do for everyone. Keep doing what you are doing.

Honestly your show is awesome to say the least! I watch it on Sunday nights with my husband and kids, and I cry every time. No matter what the story, you guys and your love and dedication to helping complete strangers is like watching miracles every Sunday. Like watching touched by an Angel. I'm so glad to know that there really are people out there that care and put that caring to good use. As well as sharing your financial influences and abilities. I especially liked the Gilyeat family and the family the week after that with the blind son.
Thanks ABC Home Makeover. God Bless you all!
Sincerely

Favorite show! The episode of the Gilyeat family, best episode I have seen. Unfortunately, sometimes, I don't have the opportunity to watch the show, but I did get a chance to see this one. Yes, definately a deserving family, and the whole crew did an amazing job! Loved it! I wish the best for the Gilyeat family. Kerrie Bacon

I jusy have to say that I look at your show everynight on UKTV Style and I think that it is fantastic. The things that all you guys do is great. Eyes lighting up in innocent childrens faces is heartwarming.
I get fantastic ideas from your show even though at times I wish there was a Sears in Ireland. I wish you all continued success.
I hope that more countries start helping families they way you all do.
