Update from Ed Sanders
Wow, what can I say friends. To say that I am shocked would be an understatement. I am totally blown away by the love and support you guys have all shown, not only at this blog, but my own personal blog. I have had so many emails, wishing me well and a quick safe recovery.
I have to admit that when I nearly cut my hand off I was scared out of my mind. Number 1 was because of my wife being three months pregnant at the time with triplets, number 2 was because I thought my television career was over after nearly twenty years and number three was because I thought my favorite hobby of building furniture was done and dusted!
So after nearly two hundred stitches and a whole lot of therapy, oh yeah and a couple of needles filled with quaterzone I am slowly on the mend. I never knew how painful it was to inject a scar with quarterzone. It kind of feels like someone is cutting your hand off all over again with a blunt saw. The reason for the quarterzone was because my thumb and finger are literally being pulled together because my scar is so long and is going diagonally across my palm from the base of my thumb to my little finger. Doctor Lubbers said that it was either that or face more surgery. Well to be honest the thought of facing more surgery with more therapy scared me as much as the accident itself, so I chose the quarterzone, but after he started I so wish I had chosen the surgery because the pain, was like nothing I can describe.
The accident was over two and a half months ago and Doctor Lubbers is so surprised at how well my rehabilitation is coming on. Personally I am still stunned that I have my hand let alone the fact that I can still move it.
It really has put into perspective how quickly things can change for the worse when you or someone you know has an accident. Since my accident I have slowed down a lot and enjoy everything in my life, because some of the people I have met in therapy are not as fortunate as me and my heart goes out to them.
If you guys want to find out more on how everything is going with the injury and the upcoming arrival of the triplets and how my life is going to change, go to www.edsanders.net and click on In his own words.
Once again friends, thanks so much for all of your support for me over a very scary time in my life.
Be safe and be lucky Ed x x x

I am so lucky to have watched the show in which Ed was so unfortunatly injured. But I need to say one thing. During the show while making the flag that may have changed his life, He made a comment about becoming an AMERICAN CITIZEN. As far as im concerned you Became one that day...... You showed so much compasion while making the flag as well as while you sat in the er and hospital. Your concern for the family and the hope that the flag would be done is more than I can say for alot of us citizens.. ..
SO ED Today you can in my book and im sure in many more Accept your role as an Official AMERICAN along with your wife and Kids.
The government should bow to you and your heart.

Dear Ed,
First of all, I thank God that you are recovering well and will have use of your hand.
I don't watch much television, but I try to never miss Extreme Home Makeover! I find it brings hope to more than just those who are helped through your program. It is by far the most uplifting program on television today!
I admire and respect the hard work and sincere compassion that all of you give to those you help.
You all have a God given gift and you use it to help others... I just want to say Thank You.
I acutally had to miss the episode when you were injured. I was just able to watch that episode last night, Feb 25th, and was shocked. I can't tell you how much my heart and prayers go out to you and your family at this time! I wish you a speeding recovery and will pray that you make a COMPLETE recovery with as little pain as possible!
God Bless you and the entire crew of Extreme Makeover the Home Edition.

That was a very moving episode! Probably one of my favorites of this show! I was really moved by your compassion for this family and how hard you worked for them just to accomplish one little thing that ment a lot not only to you but to the family. I cried hard when you had the accident because some of the families weren't going to be able to experience your presence with them. But I am amazed by you and how badly you just wanted to do that for the family. I really admire your passion. May God bless you and your family!

Dear Ed,
My family and I wish you well. As a nurse who has worked in Orthopedics(broken bones, etc.), I understand the severity of your injury. I am now working in Rehab and see the hard work that the patients put in to getting better. With what you do on the show, I feel you have put your heart and soul in to getting better and coming back to the show. Our prayers are with you for a speedy recovery that you will be comfortable holding the triplets when they are born.

HI
I really enjoy the show and think it's an awesome thing you are all doing. I believe it is God at work for many people you have built homes for. With all the depressing things going on in the world it's nice to see some people still have compassion for one another. As for Ed, he's in my prayers for a speedy recovery. God willing this program will run for many years to come.
