Spooky Times at Stage 6

Hope everyone had a marvelous Halloween, filled with lots of candy and mayhem.  Here at Stage 6, the ghouls and goblins came out and so did the pumpkin carving knives.  Check out the fine pumpkin craftmanship of the B&S cast, crew, and writers...

AHHH!

I cannot believe Maine just voted down gay marriage (after legalization by the state legislature) -- this is California Prop 8 all over again.

Ok. I need to freaking VENT, and I might as well vent a little on B&S.

1. California's Prop 8 lost by 52-48%.

2. Maine's Question 1 lost by 53-47% (all votes still not counted as of this morning).

3. Washington state's Referendum 71 (voter approval/disapproval of the expansive domestic partnership "everything but marriage" law)... just narrowly was approved, keeping DPs intact, a good thing, 51-49% (votes still being counted)

There is so much freaking REAL drama going on out there. WHY do we have to sit through endless storylines of Holly being soap-opera dastardly at her Ojai desk? It's like you guys are asssigning the story "busy work" to keep the actress with something to do. It's not an authentic, interesting storyline -- it's filler, by-product, spam.

WHY do you guys CONTINUE to allow Justin and Rebecca to kiss and make verbal sexual innuendos and feel each other up while rolling around on the bed - as Kevin and Scotty are barely allowed to touch and kiss?

This show captures very little LIFE for the number of scenes we watch! I want MORE than freaking FILLER!

I LOVED it when Kitty and Kevin discussed politics in the past, even gay marriage politics; but you've altered and domesticated her character so drastically that she doesn't even appear to be interested in politics anymore. How does Kitty feel about Obama? Is she in line with the thinking of the Sarah Palin-type conservatives - or the moderate republicans? How about the continued war in Afghanistan? Does she still vote?

This show has strayed so far from what made Kitty interesting in Season 1. Now we have to find her interesting because:

1. She likes babies.

2. She is valiantly battling cancer while tending to her baby.

AHHHHH! Please revert Kitty back to her former self and allow Kevin and her to argue and bicker about politics. Let Scotty and Kevin and Nora express SOME OPINION about the outside world. Write the dialogue funny and smart and fast and intriguing. Rise above what you've got. Squeeze in some actual life.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I love your show. I don't know if anyone has picked the song for Justin and Rebecca's first dance at their wedding, but I think this song would be completely perfect. John Jones is an indie artist I found on iTunes and this song is so beautiful I'm playing it at my wedding.

I agree with Will (above).

RANT TIME!

Kitty is almost unrecognizable right now. The independent, PROFESSIONAL, ball-busting republican is gone; replaced by a co-dependent, desperate lady who's all about babies. Nothing wrong with motherly instincts (I love my 3 kids), but that's not who she was. Why aren't married ladies on this show allowed to be their own person? The old Kitty would've kicked Robert to the curb in a second. Park guy was a lot hotter and interesting than Robert.

I also agree that Holly and everything related to her is filler. She's not a villain we love to hate; we just hate her. I don't feel sorry that she's lost the money she got by being a mistress. I don't care if she's being betrayed by Ryan. I don't care if she's mad a David (another filler). She's a bore. I just want her and her entourage gone so we can focus on the WALKERS.

Speaking of the Walkers. Why isn't Tommy on every episode? I'd love to have him back -conflicts and screw ups included- instead of wasting airtime on Holly, Robert, Scotty, Ryan and all the other non-Walkers. The best thing about this show was the idea of having a modern American family living and working together. A mother and ALL her grown children and their families. That was the FICTION that was so appealing to many of us who don't get that chance due to geography, economics and family conflicts. Now Tommy is gone, the family is no longer COMPLETE, and the show is suffering because of that. Besides, Tommy the "good son" who's now he "black sheep" provides a much-needed balance to the other siblings. His conflicts with Nora and Sarah and Kevin were, and still could be, very compelling. Bring him back as a single dad and let him rebuild his life.

Kevin is unrecognizable these day. The transition from ambitious lawyer to Robert's errand boy has been very detrimental. As has been his domestication by Scotty. I might be in the minority, but I don't like Scotty. He's a cliched, one-note character. He's either submissive as a puppy, or immature as a puppy. He doesn't want a baby... then he does. He wants to wait... then he acts impulsively. He's mad at Kevin... then he's consoling him on the couch. Booooring!! Kevin was a lot more interesting and compelling as a single man. Playing husband to pseudo-wife Scotty has neutered him. FREE KEVIN!

One last thing: Why is everyone so desperate to have babies??? Are there no other stories to be told? How many surrogacies and sperm donations will we have to endure?

Thanks for letting me vent!
