This Sunday- Episode 406 "Zen and the Art of Mole Making

Tommy in Apron

Written by Brian Studler & Geoffrey Nauffts

Directed by Michael Schultz

He’s baaaack!  Tommy pays a surprise visit to the family.  Sarah tries to keep her romance with Luc hidden from Paige and Cooper.  Kevin and Scotty take steps in making Michelle their surrogate.  Meanwhile. as Holly faces the reality of her financial situation, someone makes her a very tempting offer.

This episode was reviewed by Entertainment Weekly and received a B+.  Not too shabby if you ask me!  This is also the first episode co-written by new B&S writer Geoffrey Nauffts.

Well, that’s all until next week.  Hope everyone has a fun Halloween this weekend.

Best,

Cole

Can't wait to see this one! Loved the last episode. This season looks like the best ever.

Tommy! Tommy! Tommy! Tommy!

I can't wait. It will be great to have all the Walkers together again, even IF he is still being unbearable!

i'm glad tommy's back. it's not the same without him in B&S. i'd rather have him than ryan anytime. i hope this episode will not have any "kevin/scotty always arguing scenes" coz it's really getting on my nerves. i really prefer them sweet to each other.

Samantha

I just hope this episode keeps showing the softer side of Robert. I am go happy he and Kitty are, well I don't know what to call them. Are they really going to work at their marriage? Well either way, I love the McKitty moments.

I am SO happy Tommy is back. Thank heavens, it really did feel like someone was missing, so happy to see him return. And I can't wait to see Luc try to 'capture,' the burglar. Hah!

Charlie

I am very excited to have Tommy back. I just hope he doesn't act like a child like previously.
Last weeks episode was the best episode I have seen in a LONG time and I loved every second of it. I really hope Gilles stays as a full time cast member because he is doing wonders.
Less Ryan please. That boy has got to go. Name the season finale episode, "iDon't belong." It can be a episode about Ryan getting the boot.

Speaking of Tommy, Sarah Jane Morris who played Julia appeared in this week's Ghost Whisperer. She looked radiant! Hope to see her back on B&S.

JoAnne

glad to see Tommy back, but don't think he is staying. Very tired of the family dinner fights. can't they have these discussions at a different time other than dinners.

Paige seems to be much more mature than her uncles.

christopher scott

Fantastic episode! So nice to see the whole family together. I've missed Tommy and hope he comes back again soon. I do think we needed at least one Kevin and Tommy scene, though.

The Kevin and Scotty stuff was great, particularly their switching off in leaning on shoulders. Matthew Rhys, in the scene with Michelle, absolutely killed me. Superb acting. Also, it was so nice to see Lawyer Kevin again (by the way, I, for one, barely noticed and definitely did not feel Robert's absence! Send him to D.C. more often!)

The only bad part was the Ojai stuff, as usual. It seemed particularly underdeveloped and thus ridiculous and glaringly out of place in this episode. Unfortunately, that storyline continues to drag and detract from the quality stuff going on with the family. Putting that aside, congratulations on another strong showing. Hope the season continues on this direction!

The Michelle and Kevin talk at the end was sweet. But that goddamned ballad playing under it just killed the moment.

MUST YOU ALWAYS STICK TO A FREAKING FORMULA?

Matthew invests his scene with real authenic pathos and poignancy and you guys f--k it up with a bland generic "moving" ballad.

I DON'T WANT THE FREAKING BALLAD TO WORK ME OVER! I want Matthew to. He's a first-rate actor and your formula cheapens his emotion.

I liked Luc and Sarah sitting talking at home. Gilles brings a light freshness and openness. As an actor he's not too annoyingly "professional" and calibrated like Calista. Gilles looks like he kind of wings it. There's a charming spontaneity and I enjoy his looseness.

Patricia sucks. I can't even be civil about it any longer. She imports disbelief into the scene every time she opens her mouth. I keep involuntarily rolling my eyes when she pontificates or plays nasty. It's a remarkably wooden performance (trust me, there will be NO Emmys coming her way for this sausage performance).

Ella

I just have these questions...
How come the black kid don't get his hair cut, Is that an example of how white people don't know how to raise a black kid? or are they just too busy in their own life, and they forgot to take the poor kid to the a barber shop?
so sad they forgot about the black kid.

Ella

don't get me wrong I Love the show!

Sylviane

Will, I agree with you on the music during that scene. If there is ONE actor who doesn't need some silly diddleling music to 'enhance' the emotions it's Matthew. He's just one of the best actors on the show!

Loved Kevin/Scotty. Glad to see Michelle and Kevin work out their issues, but it still feels weird with the whole Kevin/Michelle/Chad affair in my memory. (Sorry, I like Chad.)

And I'm glad that you finally start to use Luke Macfarlane more often. He's also a very good actor and the scenes between Matthew and him are always such a joy to watch. It just WORKS.

Loved Kitty and Tommy-moments. They work very good. Just like Sarah/Kevin and Justin/Kevin always do.

Sarah/Luc, cute for the moment, but I DO hope that you give Mr Marini something more to do than just 'look good in towel', because at this moment that is all he is to me. (Sorry, no a member of the Gilles!!!!!!-fanclub like some others, but I don't want him gone either. Just want him to show me that he can ACT!)

Seeing Tommy is great. Still an idiot, but he's trying to figure things out for himself. He shouldn't have lied at first, but I guess with a family like the Walkers it's inevitable.

As for Nora... Please, girl, the world is not about you. Not every problem in the life of your kids is YOUR fault. Get over it and get over yourself.

Is Saul still gay? Where's Henry? I miss him! I wouldn't mind seeing John Glover back.

And no Kevin/Robert. YES!!!

maria

i liked the episode, loved nora kitty moment... I miss robert he was absent from the episode, not even a phone call to kitty???????

maria

where's robert? not the same without RL looking so hot... Love Kitty/Nora moment... Nice to see Tommy back, hope he fixes his life.... more robert/kitty moment please...

Chris Pureka fan

Thank you for including one of Chris's songs in the episode!

Samantha

Ok, so I did not like the fact the Robert left. I mean since Kitty still wants him running for Govenor, I know it was necessary for him to go, but still. Come on, don't kill Rob Lowe's character. This show needs him.

4Everwood

What about the money Holly gave Rebecca (she then gave it to Nora because she didn't feel right about keeping it)?

Alex

Welcome back, Tommy Walker!!! The show is not the same without you.

I still don't understand why the producers decided to exile Balthazar from the cast (big mistake!),and seeing him back is a huge reminder of what's been missing from this show. The Walker phone tree, the haert-to-heart with Kitty, his scenes with Sally Field... WOW! Now that's what makes this show great.

Please bring him back for good. If the producers need to cut expenses, why not drop marginal characters like Ryan, David and Holly? Nobody is going to miss them, trust me.

More Tommy, please!!

María

I liked the episode even though I really didn´t miss Tommy, I don´t like Balthasar Getty at all...

Anyway, Kevin and Scotty stuff was great! Thank you for giving Luke Macfarlane more lines, he is a great actor and he is amazing with Matthew on screen!

trinity yanson

i love the couch scene of kevin/scotty! they are so cute together and both actors really delivered convincingly, and they have the best dialogues this season so far. thanks writers! see, we kevin/scotty fans are not so hard to please...

S.L.

"It still feels weird with the whole Kevin/Michelle/Chad affair in my memory. (Sorry, I like Chad.)" I'm with you, Sylviane, but I've more or less resigned myself to the fact that it will apparently never be brought up. The claims that Michelle was a very close friend who Scotty's known longer than Kevin made it even weirder - did she simply not remember Kevin's name when she set them up? Why didn't Kevin really recognize her if she's so close to his husband? Why is there still no mention of Kevin and Michelle's history and how/whether that might affect their surrogacy agreement? There's no need to dwell on it, but an acknowledgment of this past is all I ask for.

I have to repeat: the Kevin and Scotty scenes were amazing. They work so well together. As do Kitty and Tommy - shame we never got too many scenes with those two.

I still continue to be bored by the Sarah/Luc storyline. He's still just (perfectly) there. I'm sure there will be drama someday, but until then - considering I don't find him attractive - those scenes don't do anything for me. IMO, Sarah is a much more compelling, realistic and relatable character when she's dealing with life as a single, working mother.

So Tommy came back (in a very contrived way) and is still as much as a schmuck as ever. Still, he provided some good moments with his siblings, Kitty in particular. That dynamic with Tommy is probably what I only missed. Not sure why Nora has to keep blaming herself for the way Tommy is. Would love to see her move on and quit her perpetual guilt trip.

Great to see Scotty's immature and 'flaky' side come out. Michelle seems to bring that out in him. Not sure why Michelle has been chosen as 'The One' apart from one obvious reason but hey, reality shows don't last forever.

Uhm why is Ryan still around? No. One. Cares.

Give Saul something better to do!

Matthew Rhys knocked my socks off with his performance, as always. Tell Rachel Griffiths she has one hot post-baby body.

Okay, it is Brothers & Sisters confession time for me. I never liked Julia (gasp! No!). There, I said it. She was always so Melba Milktoast, and besides I think Tommy is hot hot hot. I wish he would come back as a single guy. Even a single dad. That Tommy tickles my toes!

Liked the episode, obviously the story is moving forward at Ojai & I guess that is why Ryan is still around...um, who is that old curly headed guy? Why does he hate the Walkers? Whatever.

Again, the surrogate lady is someone who was obviously around season one. Please, people! I had a life then, and I don't know her back story! Tell it to me please, and maybe hook her up w/ the newly single Tommy. woooeee!

I want to speak in Patricias defense, I think she is much more realistic this season--not grinning all the time, I am actually starting to like Holly; losing her money has made her seem more real.

love season 4 you go, people, writers, whatever!

teri p

One more comment and then I will shut up until next week. It does seem to be getting kinda crowded at brothers & sisters. There are sooo many characters that I really like, all of the Walkers and their current significant others have great potential story lines. Saul too.

Heres my idea; spin off Holly & cute Ken Olin (his characters name I forget); have them involved with friends from their past, say one other couple & a couple of single types their age...ya got Fifty Something!

Speaking as a fifty something, I would watch.

You're Welcome!
