This Sunday- Episode 324 "Mexico"
Written by Alison Schapker & Monica Owusu-Breen
Directed by Ken Olin
While searching in Mexico, Nora senses Tommy might be in deep trouble. She quickly inspires the rest of the Walker clan to come to Mexico and help save their brother. Meanwhile, Justin and Rebecca search for the right moment to tell the family about their engagement. Robert and Kitty work to create the terms of their separation. Kevin wonders if he can ever make amends with Tommy. Back at Ojai, Saul reveals he has another secret he is hiding from the family.
Alright folks, this is it: the Season Three finale. It's written by our amazing showrunners Alison Schapker & Monica Owusu-Breen. It's directed by our very own Ken Olin. And it airs on Mother's Day. What more could you want? Okay, don't answer that. I know, everyone wants McKitty back together. I know, everyone wants more storylines with Kevin-Scotty. I know, everyone wants Rebecca to put a stake through Ryan's heart and have him turn into a big pile of dust. More than anything, I know we all want storylines that highlight the characters we have come to know and love. That is always the goal.
Well, hopefully, this episode can bring the season to a satisfying end, while also setting up the major stories for next year. And yes, if you haven't heard, ABC has officially picked us up for another full season. That's another whole year with the Walkers! The writing staff is coming back to work in late May and will begin mapping out the story arcs for the year. After a week of brainstorming and planning, we will be pitching our story ideas to the studio and network. This should be a very exciting time. I know the other assistants and I are looking forward to watching the writers start from scratch (to use the cooking metaphor from previous posts). Not even the writers know what will happen next year. At least to me, that's pretty exciting!
Alright, I'm visiting the family in Texas, trying to enjoy a little free time before it's back to work at Stage 6. Everyone have a great Mother's Day. If you can, watch Sunday's episode with your mom!
Best,
Cole

Episode was okay; an interesting 3rd season final--very little Scotty though, I was hoping for at least one more scene with him...at least there was plenty of camp and drama to make this episode lively and not dull. Hopefully next season is a refreshing change of pace for everyone as the writers have all summer to hopefully map out some great 4th season plot lines.
All in all this season was more frustrating than the last two, but still had some great moments. Episodes 1-11 were excellent, and even when all the drama and change hit the fan midway through this year, I was still invested (Like the great scene where Nora slapped Tommy in "Taking Sides"). I'll be back to see whats in store for next season.

Thank you for a great show! I truly enjoy the characters, both individually and collectively within the family. I'm looking forward to next season, and hoping that Robert and Kitty work things out!!!
Thank you!

Uh, are we supposed to believe that all of the Walkers are suffering from amnesia regarding Saul's boyfriend? Does he still even exist? C'mon, guys, that was an interesting plotline with wonderful actors and it's been ignored for 10 episodes. PLEASE have Henry back next season. Even a mention of his continued existence would be nice.

OMG - I can't believe how bad this episode was. Totally and utterly disappointed. So disappointed I can't say anything. So much for expectation. I'm not even sure I'll continue watching next season.
Must Robert be there in Mexico? Can't that man-boy just cry in his office all by himself? The character of Robert is a major obstacle for Kevin and Scotty and Kevin and Kitty.
And Ryan - don't even get me started!!!!! Why is he gonna be in season 4?!!!?! No one likes Ryan, writers - do you get it?!!??!!?
Is this growing pain? Must you go through what Desperate Housewives went through in Seasons 2/3 only to get good in Seasons 4/5?
Maybe you felt like you needed to pay tribute to writing off Tommy - but believe me, us, the fans don't give a damn about Tommy. He can be dead for all we care.
No gay man on earth is as saintly as Scotty - to be ditched and overlooked and ignored so many times by his husband. We're not called queens for nothing. If you wanted to make Kitty Nora, you have made Scotty Nora.

season finally was okay. not exactly the finale i want for kevin/scotty. no celebration at all for their 1st anniversary. another episode where there's a lot of robert/kevin than kevin/scotty. it's getting really annoying ya'all.

Can I love Kevin more than I do already? Everytime I think I can't, he proves me wrong. Matthew Rhys MADE this episode for me.
From Kevin's facial expressions and remarks during the 'chicken-race' between Kitty and Robert, to his observations, to his telling Tommy the truth. He is just GREAT.
It's too bad that his character is so under-appreciated by his family. They harass him into coming to Mexico only to tell him to shut up when he speaks the truth.
Just like when they told him to shut up when he didn't want to be a sperm-donor or to get Rebecca a DNA-test.
He truly is the sanest person in this family. I just wish he would "wise up" when it comes to working for Robert. He really needs to get away from Robert AND Kitty and their troubles.
I was surprised by how much I liked Tommy in this episode. I'm glad he's taking responsability for his actions and that he made his first step towards making amends with Julia.
His crying with Nora really choked me up for a moment, because we have never seen much emotion on Tommy. "You guys are the ones that like talking, not me." really sums up Tommy. I don't think that Tommy was boring, just never explored as a character.
I'm also glad there was not a "quick fix" for Kevin/Tommy. Kevin giving Tommy space and time to change is good, but I'm glad that not everything is forgiven and forgotten.
Tommy will have to EARN Kevin's trust. And it won't just be handed back to him on a silver platter, like what Nora, Kitty and Sarah did.
Now, all I can hope for is that he will try to earn it back. Because I want Tommy back. He IS a Walker.
Saul wants to keep an eye on Ryan? That is not difficult, just make sure the coffin is locked at night, so he can't kill innocent virgins and keep him out of the sun.
Please, Saul, leave Ojai, snuggle up to Henry and forget about your guilt-trip. Connie was a married woman doing it with a married man. She lied to George, William lied to Nora. Connie's suicide, IF it was one, was her own fault. And, Jamie, I miss Henry, too.
And now SAUL owes Holly? What about all those years that he kept quiet about HER dirty secret with William? SHE owes HIM!!But I guess, this is the step-up to Holly's hostile take over of Denver-Carrington... uh, sorry, Ojai.
I am not going to complain about there not being enough Scotty (though really there wasn't!), because I've reached a point where I prefer NOT to see them, if this means that their relationship remains SAFE.
It would however be nice if FOR ONCE Kevin would tell his family to go to h*** and see him chose for Scotty instead. (and then Scotty will be the one having a heart-attack from the sheer shock of Kevin's decision!)
It is getting tiresome to see Kevin run after his family like this. They are SUPPOSED to be grown-ups! He is not responsable for them.

I am confused now. If william sent saul to see connie about their affair being over because rachel was giving birth to cooper, shouldn't ryan be a year younger than cooper?
How old is cooper? how old is ryan?
hope someone can explain.

what was the song that played while Kitty ran towards Roberts helicopter and each sibling was panned to?

Bug - when did we see "their" politics? I think you're probably right. Plots with two, let's face it, arrogant and opinionated men fighting out their political views to make a difference in people's lives? That MIGHT have had potential for interesting scenes.
But it was only last night that my ABC station was off-air. I saw the rest of the season. All we saw was a strong character give up his commitment to his political beliefs as well as his education and entire adult career to: a) make phone calls and set up meetings, b) apologize to people who belittled and disrespected him, c) serve as a career/marriage counselor, and d) grow to "love" someone who treated him quite rudely and furthermore showed not one ounce of reciprocal interest in his life.
The Robert & Kevin SL took a beloved character and talented actor and turned him into at best an extra and at worst a prop. And because he can only have so many scenes in a season, that means we had to watch Matthew Rhys do his absolute best through relatively tortured and strained attempts at credibility at the expense of effortlessly realistic scenes between Kevin and, say, Nora, Sarah, Justin and of course Scotty. If I ever see Kevin and Robert in a scene together again, it will be too soon.
Still haven't seen last night's episode, but I'm getting the impression from various reviews and message boards that that might be a good thing.
Positive part of my comment as promised: I did see the opening Walker call which I loved. Justin in particular cracked me up, and Rebecca even amused with her facial expressions. I also saw the (first? only?) Kevin and Scotty scene. Yeah, Scotty can be a little too much of a saint sometimes, but he gets Kevin and he understands that he wouldn't be able to celebrate their anniversary when there was a family crisis, no matter how Kevin felt about Tommy at the moment. It's great to see a loving and understanding couple, and I really hope we get more of them next season!

The Walkers really treated Ryan like dirt in this episode. Let's fire him; no let's give him a severance package so he'll disappear. I hope he has some good things happen to him in the next season.

That was an awful episode. Just awful.
The last 20 minutes were a schmaltzy, horribly executed mess.
The slow motion sequence was cheesy to the extreme. And the actual storyline "twists" were all groaners.
Troubled Rebecca in Chicago was from the Season 1 finale, before you changed her character for Season 2 (into a Florence Nightingale incarnation). Now after two years of a stable, level-headed Rebecca, suddenly she's erratic and potentially unstable? Where was the build-up for this sudden shift? Poorly done.
So Saul's storyline about coming out storyline/dating Henry/becomimg his own person instead of William's shadow is jettisoned for...him returning to Ojai to become a guardian to the show's most ridiculous, worthless character (Ryan)?
Are you kidding me? Ron Rifkin should be pissed.
Writers, please get the message: GET RID OF RYAN. The whole storyline was an embarrassment to begin with, compounded by the sheer idiocy of his irrational "grudge" toward the Walkers. Cut him off and move on. Seriously, everyone I know who watches this show hates him and finds his whole character tedious and aggravating.
I stopped caring about the Robert/Kitty marital woes. Both were hugely annoying in the finale. Give it a rest.
I loved Kevin's realistic, justified anger toward Tommy. It was especially satisying since the whole family, including Sarah and Kitty, were suddenly unbelievable enablers, even privately blaming themselves for his misdeeds. My God, I wanted to slap some sense into them. More poor writing.
Can we PLEASE get Kevin away from Robert and out of this awful, out of character storyline where he's a glorified secretary/lackey for a Republican? Please? It makes no sense and has never made sense from the time this asinine storyline was introduced. No one in Kevin's postion would remain in that job given his sister's marital situation, especially someone as close as Kevin and Kitty. He's only there for plot purposes, and it's glaring.
And once again Kevin/Scotty are almost entirely ignored. What an egregious treatment of this beautiful couple for the latter half of the season. You would think with their passionate, large fanbase they would get an ACTUAL storyline.
I can't believe that was overlooked in favor of the Ryan nonsense and more Justin/Rebecca immaturity.
Color me highly, highly disappointed. I'm going to give the first few episodes of Season 4 a chance, but sadly my enthusiasm for this show has nearly run out.
I am sure the writers love this show and have done the best they could, and I don't deny they have worked hard over the past year. But I really hope they take a step back and look at some of the story decisions made this year and assess why many long-term fans, like myself, are increasingly upset and disappointed with the state of the show. With an amazing cast such as this, the show could be brilliant. Right now, it's a shadow of its former self.

This is my very favorite show i watch it with my
16 year old daugher and she
loves it. This family seems so real. We get a kick out how they always say it's a secret and then they are all on the phone discussing the secret. We loved the Mothers Day show
with the Cult that was awesome. Please keep up the great story lines and please never ruin the show like Despereate Housewifes they ruined it with dumn story lines. Also discuss it at work with a hooked co-worker. Thanks for everything.

I am SO HAPPY that the show will be back next season. Please keep Ryan,
develop his character.you created him as a Walker. Sally Field and good ole lovable Uncle Saul will make sure he stays in the family? Holly looked so beautiful last night..softer..and true to form I found it interesting how she objected to Rebecca and Justin's plans to get married (I got teary eyed because I really love seeing them finally together)but Holly will add a twist to this storyline, her fangs will come out again only to be cut off by David..Keep this couple in your show please, at least Holly doesn't whine like Kitty..no wonder Robert walked away..I will miss the show and look forward to the new season. Please don't change writers and become like Gray's A or Housewives. Your show is so classy! Lastly, please tone down the sex scenes, they have been too frequent and unnecessaryly embarrassing. Thank you producers, staff etc of BROTHERS AND SISTERS! The best series on television!

I really want Justine and Rebecca to get married it would just make my day some time. And this is a great show that my mom got me into.
I'm soo excited for the new season, i wasn't sure if there was going to be another one and i'm glad to have come accross this. :)

I'll start with the positive things because apparently that gives me more credibility and it's the nice thing to do.
So!
Kevin. He saved the whole episode. I loved how he called Tommy on his behaviour and his snarky remarks made a lot of cheesy scenes bearable.
Another positive thing: Scotty knowing Kevin apparently well enough to send him after his family. this was a nice scene. I'm glad Kevin went with them to Mexico, anything else would've been out of character and utterly contrived. I also loved how Kevin confronted Tommy. That was long overdue and well written.
Now to the things that did not make me see rainbows and unicorns all over:
You could've at least have the decency of giving Kevin/Scotty one last kiss. Come on. But alas, they already had their three+ kisses per season. Mercifully, the young pretty heterosexuals took over the kissing-part.
What I found odd was Scotty out of the blue asking from Kevin to change and make an effort. Sometimes I wonder if that guy even listens to himself. As cute as he is, a lot of times he just makes no sense. He was the one who complained one episode ago that Kevin was supporting Tommy's midlife crisis and getting too invested.
But listen to me, here you're giving Scotty some lines and I'm complaining!
Nora, Sarah and Kitty suddenly realizing that Tommy's a tortured soul and he's a victim of his own never-ending pursuit of the family's happiness. Therefore, it's totally understandable why he left his wife and infant child. They literally made him do it! Tragic!
Nora's becoming more and more neurotic. And not endearing-neurotic (as in s1, ehem) but irritating-neurotic. It's not funny anymore. That woman needs a hobby.
Robster MacSaint arriving by helicopter... descending from heaven... sky, I mean. Sorry. I got the analogy. Clever. Thankfully, you gave him a heart-attack a couple of eps ago as a reminder that he is a mortal. I wonder if that man will ever show some modesty. Of course, he had his lapdoggy Kevin running towards him, Thank God!
Which leads me to my plea of finally freeing Kevin from Robert. After all, we have the contrivance of Saul going back to Ojai to babysit that emo!boy (who's about 12 and never-ever would get a job anywhere. And shouldn't he go back to school some time?) because he somehow feels responsible for him. Why can't you then have Kevin going back to being the confident, competent lawyer? I swear I won't nag about any contrivance! Instead, I would happily accept any reason you'd give him to leave Robert. Please, please. Please get Kevin away from Robert. And Robert's and Kitty's marriage.
Kevin belongs back in his lawyer-y corner office and his husband (Scotty, not Robert). Tying Kevin to Robert is just another contrived reason to give Robert more storylines. While doing that, the character of Kevin gets completely undermined. He needs back his spine and his balls and his old job. Please.
He does make a pretty secretary, I'll give you that, but he makes an even hotter lawyer.
I didn't even enjoy the silent dinner (Kevin's disgusted look saved it for me), it felt like a caricature of this show's past sense of humour. Then again, this whole season is a caricature of its former self.
And, the end. Oh, the end. Why do the Walkers always have to break into a song? Since when do they do that? It was cheesy enough in 3.10 but now... over the top.
This episode pretty much sums up the whole season for me: Cheesy, over the top, the characters are mere caricatures of themselves, the storylines make no sense and the writing is moody and irrational like that of a bunch of 6-year-olds. In this light, you've stayed true to yourself.
This season is over. I'm glad we can leave this utter mess behind and move on to a hopefully improved 4th season.
Free Kevin. Let him go back being a lawyer again.
Cheers!

Unfortunately,I am having a hard time finding the words to express my disappointment in your final episode. From the start when "Nora" walks into the bar as though she was Clint Eastwood to the part where the clan is thrown out from the retreat... What was that all about? We had been faithfully watching the program from the start... but last night it was an insult to our intelegence... as you writers and even the actors... did you unknowingly eat or inhale a drug of sort that distorted your judgements so badly. Really,I think you owe us as your faithful viewers an apology for insulting us with such poor writing. Can you explain the reason behind it?

The finale was just OK. I loved this show in season 1 and 2. Season 3 left me frustrated most of the time. I really hope season 4 can recapture the humor and interesting storylines of the past. I really hope Ryan goes away; just too irritating. Hope Kitty and robert get back together and she can regain some of her independant strong convictions and not be such a wimp. I love Rebecca and Justin; can tell they really love each other. I hope for a much better season 4!!

Looove Justin and Rebecca getting back together and so sweet and mushy! Nice work Ken. Everything so tastefully directed.

This episode left me feeling cheated. I don't think that it did anything to advance any storylines. I also hate that Robert didn't see Kitty as she was running to the helicopter.

This was a real season finale. Brought us different atmosphere, something refreshing. There was a lot of humor, and a lot of tension, and the mix of them together was truly what I love about the Walkers.
I think this was a great season, I will rewatch it again and again.
I have many memories from the season. The first that comes to my head is the opening scene of 3/10 when the Walkers trying to tell Nora that they aren't coming to thanks giving. The best scene EVER!
Of course there were many moments like this, but I can't write them all for now (maybe later...).
I will also remember the intense 2-hours event which I believe should get the Emmy reward.
Love the process that Justin and Rebecca have been through and hopefully their relationship will get to a safty place next season.
I will join the rest by saying that Ryan doesn't fit in.. for me he was just a charecter ment to come between Justin and Rebecca and eventually to show them that they belong togather. Maybe bringing his dad to the picture next season will give him something else to deal with, I am just hoping he is trough interfering Justin and Rebecca's relationship.
I think that this season had many Kevin-Scotty and I don't understand why people are complaining about it. See the season from the start and maybe you will remember things you have forgotten.
Every Walker got his place this season equally (maybe Kevin had the most...)
So let me just say that I LOVE this show, count me in for the next season. I will miss the Walkers so much!
I think I will use the picture sarah gave to Tommy as my desktop pic for a while :)
THANKS FOR A GREAT SEASON!!! SEE U SOON :)

Loved the finale, everyone did a good job! Maybe if this was a 2 hour finale things would have been explored deeply. This hour was way too fast for me.
I wanted more! I wanted to see more reactions to the marridge proposal! I wanted more one-to-one talkes with Tommy, I wanted more funny scence with the brothers, althouge the silent meal was a great one!
I wanted more because I just can't get enough, but obviously I will come for more - next season :)
You must have done something right :)
