This Sunday: Episode 319 – “Spring Broken"

Written by Sherri Cooper-Landsman & Brian Studler
Directed by Richard Coad
Kevin and Justin take Tommy on a boys' get-away to Baja. However, Kevin has hidden agenda: he wants Tommy to consider taking a plea bargain. Kitty finds herself very overwhelmed with being a new mom and also caring for Robert. Ryan spends some more time with Nora, Sarah, and Kitty, but it is Rebecca with whom he shares a big secret. Nora, not wanting to be overbearing, attempts a new mothering style, but will her children actually appreciate this?
Next week we will interview Brian Studler, one of the writers of Sunday's episode.

Thank you thank you for "the Baja". Almost lost me with the previous "soap" dramas ... hospital, heart attack, baby. Now I'm back with enthusiasm (kleenex in hand ... tears of joy). I'm 76, doing well in my quiet way, and B&S is fantastic entertainment... well written, directed and acted! Wonderful to see possitive gay characters.

To focus in on a line that bugged me last night: while yelling at Tommy, Justin said that Rebecca was the only one who believed he could actually pull the medical school thing off. First, up until this ep, she was the only one who KNEW about it. Secondly, although Tommy meanly laughed at first, he turned around on the idea and Kevin was supportive of Justin from the moment he heard of it.
I get that Justin is upset by the break-up, but I'm annoyed by the repeated implications that R's the only one who's there for him (for example, with his sobriety anniversary). It just doesn't fit with what we know of this family. And I hope that Justin soon realizes getting rid of Rebecca is the best thing that could happen to him.
Meanwhile! I've watched the Kevin and Scotty scene probably 20-30 times. Thanks a lot - I do have other things to do with my day! (No, but really. Thanks a lot - it was hot.)

The good:
Kevin/Scotty, their kiss and that short telephone conversation in the end, it MADE the episode for me. We don't see enough of them.
No continuation of this ridiculous Kevin/Robert love-story. He didn't even beg for Robert's permission to go away. Now THAT had me laughing.
Rob and Calista were terrific this episode. Robert's stubborness, the way he 'knows' Kitty best and his realisation in the end that Sarah might be right.
Kitty's being dead-tired, but also her detachment from Robert was well done. It was so subtle, but so definate. Very well acted by both of them.
I loved how Ryan got into a debate with Kitty. Her "Bring it on" made me sit up and watch. THAT is the Kitty I like, the fighting one, not the whine-and-freaking-out one. I was glad the frantic 'Ally-McBeal'-Kitty was gone for an episode, she seemed very much at peace with herself, inspite of the difficult situation she's in.
And I thought the change in attitude in Ryan when Kitty started talking about her being a mother was great to watch. She completely knocked the floor from underneath him and his shock was so obvious. Well done to Luke Grimes.
Tommy/Kevin/Justin, ALWAYS entertaining to watch. I loved their talks, their arguments, the embarrasement from both Kevin and Justin were hilarious.
The bad:
Ryan/Rebecca: Couldn't care less. She can cry all she wants, but she broke up with Justin herself, it's her own choice, so get over it, girl, and quit whining.
Tommy's decision in the end, I'm disappointed. It was cowardly way to handle the situation.
The ugly:
And now, Ryan has a (maybe)suicide in his past as well. But I have a hard time believing the kid who may or may not be William's has a mother who may or may not have killed herself over something William may or may not have done. Well acted, but it came from nowhere and I'm not convinced.
So now, William is not only a cheater and an embezzler, but also someone who (willingly) made someone commit suicide? Yeah, whatever.

Sylviane: "So now, William is not only a cheater and an embezzler, but also someone who (willingly) made someone commit suicide? Yeah, whatever."
Kind of makes you wonder what Nora ever saw in him, huh? I do hope Ryan's suspicions aren't true - seems an awful lot like a young kid trying to come up with some explanation for his mother's death. If not and William is even more of a villain than we've been led to believe, then it's ridiculously soapy.
I'm really not a fan of Kitty or Robert, but the last scene with them was so brilliantly under-acted and subtle. Well done.

I have been watching the show since it started but was disappointed last night at the cavalier way you dealt with food allergies. The fact that not only did you have "Sarah" sending in a peanut butter sandwich when the school was peanut free but then telling "Paige" to lie about it was very insensitive. As a parent of a child who has severe food allergies I had hoped that the such a widely watched show would be more sensitive to such a severe problem. The message your show gave last night to the thousasnds of viewers is that food allergies are not life threatening and that a child's life is not in danger if the rules are broken. Your off hand remark was watched by thousands of viewers and now those same people might believe that someone like me, trying to protect my son's life, is over reacting. Thanks a bunch ABC.

I mostly enjoyed this episode. I liked how it was Walker-centric in focus and how the two major plots unfolded from the perspective of the Walker characters. Kitty's marital woes were delivered through her POV in the main, with the other Walker women rallying wonderfully around her. Likewise, Tommy's legal strife brought the Walker boys together with enjoyable brotherly interactions to be had.
However, the storylines, apart from Kitty's, still remain rather extreme. Tommy is now a fugitive from justice and William could potentially be the cause of a suicide?! You guys must really hate Tommy to make him attain previously unreachable heights of schmuckery. Yes, I know Getty is leaving but do you really have to make Tommy so despicable? His one moment of humility was snatched away by his later act of cowardice.
Old William's character gets more and more sullied by the seasons. I smell a cheapened plot device and illegit license for OTT drama here. But lets see what unfolds in the next episode.
Speaking of cheapened plot devices, this episode would have been great had it not been for the Ryan/Rebecca scenes. Is Ryan 'crushing' on Rebecca even necessary other than to drive a contrived wedge between the "great love" of Justin & Rebecca? UGH. If anything, this episode showed how unwarranted it was to have this Ryan/Rebecca lame storyline when Ryan was far more palatable with the actual Walker women.
I LOVED Sarah in this episode. The conversation she had with Robert was a particular highlight for me. I really appreciated how Robert didn't get overly defensive in response. His dawning realisation of what Sarah had said was most satisfying to watch. To me, this was a clear example of good writing - it was balanced and moderate and drove the point effectively home. More of this please.
A HUGE thank you for bringing the old Kevin back. He was smart, sexy, snarky and supportive. Exactly why I love him. You see? Keeping him AWAY from McCallister does him a world of good. This is how it should be.
Finally, bonus points for NO HOLLY!

This road trip wasn't as fun as the one last season when the brothers go to see Scotty's parents.
It's hilarious to see Kevin in a sea of boobies XD
Hey, he's quite the ladies' guy and his scenes cracked me up alot esp. the alcohol part.
I'm kinda sad with the situation between Kitty & Robert.
She's kept up all day and night by the baby, and she still have to take care of her husband who has recently suffered a heart attack.
It's understandable about her disappointment with Robert.
He almost died, for god's sake! Yet he placed his political ambition ahead of his family.
And please, please scrap off the Ryan-Rebecca romance, if that's you're really planning.

Thank you for the Kevin and Scotty scene! It was perfect!
And thanks for keeping Kevin away from Robert!

Hey, I am so happy with this episode, its like a relief for all the kevin~scotty fans out there.
They just provided us a small package of masala{spice}....
With Luke McFarlane almost taking his shirt off ,Kevin sticking on to the phone to catch up with scotty every time
and yeah they both justify all of our fans anger by saying Now things are just relying on the "appointment sex"..!!
Well, on that note writers have really figured out how much we like the bonding of both of them.
I guess they also given us some judgmental beliefs to put them back in our pocket because Kevin admits that later on he will be taking a break off with just him and Scotty on their trip to Paris. I mean how romantic is that.
Apart from that I really like Calista Flockhart {Kitty} expressing her blues to Nora n Sarah.
n Wat i don't like is the Becca and Justin storyline. I guess here writers are playing with our minds. Common we all know they both love each other. They really make a cute couple. So I personally am waiting for them to get patched up. As far as , i think he should go back from the next flight as soon as possible. HAhahaha !! He is just bringing certain complications to the Walkers. I believe all credit goes to the writers {hats off to you}. I am really glad that i was able to see Scotty's affection with Kevin. Thank you...
Up Up And above you guys...
haha

What?? Ryan thinks William may have had something to do with his mother's suicide/death? Ridiculous! Don't mess with this character - it doesn't make sense. Besides, I don't even like Ryan or this storyline - I mean really, how many affairs was our William to have had?? Come on writers, come up with something better - you're too good to be recreating similar stories (ie Rebecca).

Does anyone know the song that was playing in the background of the campfire scene with Justin, Kevin and Tommy.
