This Sunday: Episode 319 – “Spring Broken"

Written by Sherri Cooper-Landsman & Brian Studler
Directed by Richard Coad
Kevin and Justin take Tommy on a boys' get-away to Baja. However, Kevin has hidden agenda: he wants Tommy to consider taking a plea bargain. Kitty finds herself very overwhelmed with being a new mom and also caring for Robert. Ryan spends some more time with Nora, Sarah, and Kitty, but it is Rebecca with whom he shares a big secret. Nora, not wanting to be overbearing, attempts a new mothering style, but will her children actually appreciate this?
Next week we will interview Brian Studler, one of the writers of Sunday's episode.

Stop the Rebecca-Ryan thing! It's too unreal, she loves Justin!

The boys get away to Baja?
Hmmm. Let's see... Curious! This reminds me of a story idea I posted in October, 2008 on this forum:
----------
"Marijuana and Nothingness Under the Mexican Sun" -- All right, this is Justin's episode all the way. He relapses, he takes off in Tommy's car and boozes it up (with herb and prescription meds) while driving down the Mexican coast (it will be SO REJUVINATING, by the way, to see locations and exteriors! Miles of beach and sun and rundown motels! We won't feel cramped and claustrophobic due to the endless parade of Walker interiors).
----------
Well, I see you retained PART of my story idea anyway...!
I am anxiously awaiting my "episode inpired by" credit when I watch on Sunday!

i agree sam19. i am a big kevin/scotty fan but lately we've been seeing less and less of them. i'm actually really disappointed by that. and writers, i'm not into this rebecca/ryan storyline,it's so dull.

I gotta laugh at some of the comments here. How can people say the Rebecca/Ryan storyline is dull? Nothing has even happened with them yet! LOL. They had two little scenes together in the last episode. That's hardly enough to judge by and we don't even know where it's going yet. I, for one, will reserve my judgment until I actually watch it and see where it's headed.
Anyways, looking forward to this week's ep writers. Surfs up!

Loved the sneak-peeks we got to see. Glad to see Tommy/Kevin/Justin hanging out together.
I don't want to give away anything, but Kevin's "Am I allowed to take Scotty?" made me melt. Btw, he's talking about going TO Paris, before anyone gets the wrong idea. ;) I don't believe this to be the "shirts optional" episode.
I am looking forward to this episode. Seems like it's about the Walkers again.

wut the?? Justin an Rebecca are finally in a good place and here comes Ryan??

I don't think that the Ryan/Rebecca storyline s dull or anything, but the thought of a love triangle with two brothers fighting over a girl who used to believe that she was their sister is just so strange and kind of gross.
I am just starting to get on board with Justin and Rebecca but this upcoming storyline makes it much harder to care about the couple.

Rebecca is *always* dull in everything she does. At least if she's boring with Ryan she won't be dragging Justin down anymore. Justin is cute and funny when he's in scenes without her.
Also: more Kevin & Scotty and please, please, please free Kevin from Robert. I hate that storyline.

c'mon guys, let the writers do their job, this is the best show ever on tv

Too creepy and confusing for Rebecca to go with Ryan....he is tooo young and totally will ruin the suspense of Rebecca and Justin. It is too obvious that will or may happen. Not a good move. Love the show!!! Stay on for l0 more seasons!!!

Well, don't expect me to shed a tear over Justin and Rebecca. I've always thought they were boring as a couple, like watching paint dry. Almost all of their arguments were petty and immature. And their characters are way too young to get married. So what else can they do with them? Have them continually bicker and make up every episode for another season?
I say let them spread their wings and date other people and grow up a little(which both of them really need to do). All they ever did was fight, pretty much all the time when they weren't in bed together. That's usually a sign that a relationship isn't going to work, at least not at that point in their lives. And if Justin is really serious about becoming a doctor, he's not going to have time for a girlfriend anyways. At least, not if they plan on making that storyline the least bit realistic.

People always dig on Holly, but I LOVE her. She is tenacious and amazing and doesn't care what other people think. And her hair is luscious. You go, girl!

I am irate because ABC caribbean cuts into the show to show an extra ad.

What an assault on prevailing mores of the American People this program has come to represent. Gay is their right in the bedroom, if you think many Americans wish to have it in their bedroom, your choice has come to represent the most selfish, singular agenda having NOTHING to do with entertainment for most Americans. Enjoy your ways, many of us will no longer be with you.....

LOSE THE NEW KID !

Becca should be with Justin, but you need to find a way to make it more real and give BOTH their characters more depth! It just can't be about them sleeping together and having fights over silly things. Ryan should NOT be with Rebecca!

I enjoyed this episode! Minimal Robert, no Holly. The Sarah, Kitty, Nora stuff wasn't too riveting, but it was OK. The Ryan and Rebecca stuff was contained enough where I could just mute it during their scenes. And I always love the boys together.
We couldn't get a little more kissing before Sarah interruptus? I really hope that wasn't the "shirtless" make-out scene you promised us.
Also, are people out on bail for felonies really allowed to head out of the country?
Overall, though. Good episode!

Get over yourself, Richard. The gay content tonight is no more (in fact it is less) than it was in the first season of the show. You clearly aren't a longtime fan of the show or you would realize that.
More Kevin & Scotty, please! Their VERY brief scenes were a high point in this episode.

I hope Ryan's place in Justin-Rebbeca storyline is just to help them regain their love (which obviously does exist) and if what I think is true, that I'm looking forward for their comeback..

It's really nice to see Balty - finally! - with some drama to play. He has a beautifully minimalist style of acting that's just so refreshing and... understated! There's something so GROUNDED (and cool, reserved) in his manner. I don't know how being a Getty informed his personal psychology, what life experiences and happiness and pain was involved in all that, but I get the sense, in scenes like we saw tonight, that there's a lot brewing around under the surface, more going on than meets the eye. He stammers, he hesitates, he's stripped down to essentials as an actor and bare - and direct. And I really dig this sense of fuller character. --- And, of course, he contrasts well with Matthew and Dave. They're each individual and none of them share the same acting tics.
Don't have words to waste on Rebecca I'm afraid (and Emily, too). This fusion of character and actress is vapid. And worse, makes me feel vapid to be wasting my time watching. I'm acutely aware of actress and "story" when she's on. She pulls me out of the context of the story. She's understated - and, in a weird way, narcissistic and artificial at the same time. Once or twice she's integrated into the story this season, but mainly Emily's playing a girl without any real character or convictions.

Please don't give us a lot of stuttering, adolescent drama between Rebecca and Ryan.

That scene between Kevin/Scotty at the start was HOT. And a nice reminder that they are, in fact, newlyweds. Add in the "Sarah Interruptus" and Sarah slyly catching on to the appointment sex, and it was a pure joy to watch.
Please, more of that.
VERY solid episode. The focus was where it should be -- the Walkers. Really enjoyed both A plots (the Walker brothers' spring break, and Nora/Sarah/Kitty). Great acting, as usual.
This is the Kevin I know and love. Snarky and witty, but also a concerned, supportive brother. Well done. And whaddaya know, he was nowhere near Robert. Funny how no Robert = Kevin is his old self again.
The development about Kitty's emotional detachment was effective and a realistic way of starting the Kitty/Robert marriage rift storyline. Keep it up.
I'm reserving full judgment until we know more, but the Ryan reveal strikes me as silly. I understand William Walker was a jerk in many regards, but I think you are coming perilously close to *over*doing his flaws. At a certain point it reflects poorly on Nora (and even the rest of the children) to have ever revered him. Now you tell us he's also involved in Connie's death somehow? Oy, I hope this is dealt with carefully.
Still, all in all, a very good effort. I'm hoping Tommy comes back in a recurring capacity next year. As frustrating as his character can be, I always enjoyed the chemistry between the brothers.
