This Sunday: Episode 315 – “Lost and Found”
Written by Michael Foley & Jennifer Levin
Directed by David Paymer
Nora heads up to Berkeley to meet Ryan Lafferty. Rebecca spends time with David in New York City, and her unexplained absence upsets Justin and Holly. Kevin worries that Kitty is not entirely okay with Robert's decision to run for Governor. Holly looks at the fine print of the Crawford Orchards acquisition.
Things to Look Forward to in Upcoming Episodes:
* Kevin/Scotty make-outs (shirts optional)
* Another Walker brothers "road trip!"
* The beautiful Greenatopia offices, played by an alcove of our very own writers' floor (and we got to keep the furnishings!).
* The grand opening of Nora's Center.
* Big, Life-Changing Choices all around!

"* Kevin/Scotty make-outs (shirts optional)"
Whoo! You guys love us. You really love us.
(Sorry, I had to.)

* Kevin/Scotty make-outs (shirts optional)*
I'll believe it when I see it, but if it is true, I guess I'll be looking for a new 'rewind' button soon, VERY soon. :)
* Another Walker brothers "road trip!"*
YEAH!!! Those three together are usually fun. And we haven't had too many of those.
Looking forward to the coming episodes.

Oh, jeez.
I can't believe the number of women getting excited about the prospect of watching Kevin & Scotty making out ("shirts optional").
You know, the next big step up the ladder is watching actual gay porn! Let me know if any of you ladies are ready for THAT milestone; I'll offer suggestions (boxer-briefs not optional... they definately come off).

Thank you for listening to fans of Luke Macfarlane and Matthew Rhys!
Finally, we may get a shirtless Scotty!! :) I can't help but be very happy to see Scotty and Kevin shirtless together.
Btw, can you give us the episode title for episode 322?

Will, what makes you think that all of the above posters are women? Or that the ones who are women haven't already watched gay porn? Or that the ONLY reason we want to see the two characters show physical affection is because we want to see them shirtless? (I won't deny that that's part of it!)

Okay...what is it with you Californians putting "the" in front of highway numbers? The 101. The 10. The really funny thing about tonight's episode was that when Rebecca was in NYC and asked David "what freeway is that?" he answered, "We call them highways here." Then he proceeded to say it was blah blah blah on "the 95." Well that's really ironic, because nobody on the East Coast would say that - nobody but west coast types (Californians in particular) say the word "the" before an Interstate highway number!!!

I'm sorry, team, but I have to say this was one of the more boring and unwatchable episodes of the whole show for me. Plenty of screen time for Rebecca, Holly, Robert, Kitty and Ryan (my least favorite characters) but no sign at all of Sarah or Scotty (both of whom usually shine, even in the background). When Kevin, Tommy, Saul and Justin did show up, they were only there to serve the purposes of the other characters' stories rather than having plots of their own.
I realize that not everyone is going to have equal prominence every week. At the same time, please remember that a lot of us feel like Rebecca and Holly especially no longer serve a purpose (and Ryan never did) and take away from the characters we actually started and keep watching this show for.

I think Rob Lowe's character will be killed off in the 2 hr. episode in two weeks. Probably assasinated. Is he supposed to be leaving the show?

This episode lack the usual funny element, so I was a little disappointed.
Ryan looked like a lost soul, and I understood about the inner struggle he went through.
I bet he's half expecting Nora to show up, otherwise he wouldn't have called her in the first place.
Hopefully he will find himself in the Walker family soon.

Ok. Before all the 15-year-old girls start desperately posting & pleading... the song at 10:55 pm was Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees".

Besides the stellar song choice, this episode bored me stiff. And I thought all that retconning done in season 2 - to make the show more "youthful", energetic - was supposed to pay off by now.
Everything seemed solidly non-offensive and warmed-over (as in warmed-over spaghetti from last night's meal). We've been here before in all the storylines. There were no "Emmy" moments either. It was all blandly "fine"... but, isn't it permissible to turn on B&S expecting to experience more than blandly fine?? Isn't it ok to want a show that mixes it up a little, that is fast and funny, that makes you feel passionate about something... anything?
Emily has cardboard chemistry with Dave, but with Ken the actor chemistry improved a bit.
This episode lacked an independent feisty Kevin and Sarah - and it suffered for it. Those two actors are hams - in a very professional, artistic way. They can chew scenery with style and grace and shoot some adrenaline and daredevil energy into the proceedings.
The episode I saw was the equivalent of Mexican food without the spices --- without peppers or salsa or adequate flavoring. "Blandly fine" is a valid reason to expect low ratings. If ratings turned out to be high for this episode, there's no indication why. It's all vanilla retread.

I think it was a good episode. Not the best, but certainly not the worst either.
The best thing: Robert/Kitty/Kevin. I was pretty sure that Kitty would end up blaming Kevin, but she directed her anger at the right person and HOW!!! I was cheering for her. I was glad to see Kevin stand up to Robert. About (bleep)time he did. For the first time in weeks I felt that Kitty and Kevin were themselves again.
David/Rebecca was interesting to watch. Their little yes/no on whether or not they wanted to get to know each other was interesting. A little more annoying is that Rebecca seems to have issues with being questioned. Her reaction of lashing out at David was rather immature and reminded me of 3.09 when she acted the same with Justin when he doubted if she was qualified enough to work for Ojai. Interestingly, both David and Justin apologize to her and she reacts as if she EARNED that, which she didn't, at least not without accepting her responsability in the argument. But the writing and acting was very good. But Rebecca hasn't earned point with me with that action.
Nora/Ryan was a nice push and pull, but I wondered why Ryan acts so surprised to see pics of William. He had the website of Ojai Foods on his computer when he called Nora. I cannot imagine that he didn't google William Walker first. And his reaction threw me out of the moment and now I'm wondering if he's not pretending something.
Ojai/Holly/Tommy/Saul. I actually felt for Holly. I completely agreed with Saul and the way Tommy talked back at Saul... unacceptable! And if I wanted Holly to get hurt, at first, now I want to see Tommy go flat on his face in stead. Weird.
In all I think I liked that it moved slower this week, that you actually told us a story, rather than give a synopsis and leave it up to us to fill in the blanks.

Oh, I forgot: 3 small gripes.
No Scotty. In honesty I cannot see where he would have fit in this eps, but I missed him nonetheless.
No Sarah. Always a miss if she isn't there.
Poor Justin. Please, get him away from those Harper women. If it's not Rebecca making his life miserable, then it's Holly calling him a liar in his own home. He should kick both of them out his life, though he'd have to get one first, I assume.

Any idea who does the song at the end??

I'd like to see Kevin cheat on Scotty with the senator's brother.

Last night's show was boring!! I hate the storyline taking Kitty and Robert apart. the message sent: Love dies after marriage. I liked it much better when they showed how love can grow deeper in a marriage. How are they going to be good parents with this storyline!! The writers need to go back to the good character lines that made this show worth watching!!

Sylviane:
You seem to find some little rainbow in each and every episode.
If Andy Warhol were to write & direct an episode ("Living Room") where the Walker clan do nothing but watch TV for an entire hour eating Butterfingers in grainy film stock, you'd find something adore.
--------------------
Oh, I'd like to see Kevin cheat on Scotty, too.
In fact, I'd like to see Kevin cheat on Scotty with the senator himself.
This would:
a) Introduce another potentially gay character into the mix (we're not quite at 50%/50% yet)
b) Revitalize both Kitty and Scotty's storylines (Scotty LOVES playing the victim housewife)
c) Give us more of those snarky Kevin-Kitty banter scenes from season one which we all love and miss (the affair can be played for laughs; a farce)
It's a win-win situation.
Also, it will loosen up Rob Lowe to release some of that famous comic flair - the kind of comedy that brings out all his best qualities.

I have to argue: do NOT listen to these crazy, crazy, crazy people. Do not do anything to mess with Kevin and Scotty, especially not yet ANOTHER ridiculous cheating plot. Some people eventually learn how to keep their pants on. You'd think, for a family that has been torn apart by infidelity on more than one occasion, the writers could come up with some different, more creative angle to insert marital conflict.
Break up whomever you want (in fact, PLEASE break up Robert/Kitty and Justin/Rebecca. I can't stand either of those couples). But please let Kevin and Scotty last, if for no other reason than to avoid the cliche of gay men being unable to commit to healthy, monogamous relationships.

Prediction: Sen. dies enroute to the hospital.

Rob Lowe has been a favorite since his days on West Wing. I can't believe he is being killed off. What a waste.
Posted by: Doris | February 16, 2009 at 01:09 PM
Rob Lowe isn't leaving the show. Balthazar Getty is. I think it will be Tommy that dies. That or Uncle Saul. He doesn't have a storyline anyway now. Except for bringing his hobo boyfriend to family functions.
