Needless to say, the last three months at Brothers & Sisters have been... well, not at Brothers & Sisters. Thank you so much for your continued support. We promise to reward your patience with delicious new episodes very soon...
I would like to say a word or two about the Kevin/Scotty, Kevin/Jason storyline that has been unfolding these past couple episodes.
From Sunday's episode, it appears that Kevin has made a "choice" and has chosen Scotty. While I HAVE warmed up to Scotty a bit (he's looser & has a greater capacity to LAUGH now; Scotty shouldn't be burdened with nobleness & melodrama when fighting with Kevin, he comes off as 1940's Joan Crawford), I still think the pairing is less interesting & less potentially thrilling & combustible as Kevin might get with Jason.
Kevin & Jason have two completely different worldviews. Kevin is vain & bitchy & kind of materialistic. Jason tends toward the spiritual. Jason is a character we rarely see on TV (& NEVER in a gay relationship). There is something off-kilter, virtuous in his gaze. He SEES LIFE THROUGH A DIFFERENT LENS & it is this specific potential for opposites attracting & the exploring of this friction that could keep this relationship strong & vibrant & dynamic for a long time to come (meaning you writers wouldn't have to constantly trump up side-stories for the characters to keep them "fresh". Kevin & Jason have the potential to metamorphose & stay fresh & alive... in a way that Keith & David were on "Six Feet Under". Those two were unlikely personalities brought together & were constantly rejuvenating their chemistry).
ANYWAY. You potentially have a great team here in Kevin & Jason, and I, for one, would love to see them share a life together & adopt a kid down the road & get to know more about a pairing that yields so much more mystery & passion than the one with well-meaning, puppyish Scotty. One fault I find in the dramatic situations on B&S is the writer's willingness to TAKE THE EASY ROAD, the path of least resistance. I LIKE underlying complexity in a relationship. I am a bit sad because I feel practically the whole of the Kevin-Jason relationship has slipped by unexplored (remember whisking Jason off to Malaysia? And Kevin's touching, bitchy one-liners at the mexican restaurant while guzzling margaritas at Kitty's b-day party? Kevin brought real pathos to those scenes that simply wouldn't have worked as well were Scotty leaving).
Glad to read that you are back. And I can only add my request to those of others: Could Scotty and Kevin work out this time, please? I loved the way their relationship is built sofar and would hate to see that destroyed yet!) again. It would be nice to see a gay relationship work for a change. AND Matthew Rhys has a most beautiful smile and I like to see him use it more often. :-D And the chemistry between him and Luke is just perfect.
So glad you guys are back and so look forward to whatever episodes are to come.
Glad to see Will is back and can't wait to see what he has to say...by the way, to the poster who mentioned the "eye colors"
My sister's first two children have blue eyes, the third has brown and she and her husband have brown eyes....I do believe that Becca is not a Walker.
so we'll see.
I love seeing Ken Olin, he is so talented in writing, producing and acting seems like anything he is involved in is outstanding.
I am among those who hope that Kevin will remain with Scotty for a significant period of time. They are an interesting match (loved them in the karaoke scenes) and more importantly I want to see Kevin in a long-term relationship. He needs some stability in his personal life after a season and a half of lovelife drama.
As for Rebecca...I think it would be a great disservice to long-term viewers (such as myself) to "de-Walkerize" her as it would absolutely contradict a year's worth of storylines. Many of us remember vividly the scene in "Game Night" where Kitty finally meets Rebecca and breathlessly declares how she can't believe how much Rebecca "looked like" William. This wouldn't make sense unless she were Willam's daughter.
Also, I really would love to see Rebecca's burgeoning sibling relationships with Kevin, Kitty and Sarah explored...which would likewise be destroyed were she revealed to be unrelated.
Glad to see you back up and running. Four new episodes this spring. Hoped for more, but grateful for any.
Add my voice to the Kevin/Scotty chorus. They are a great couple. The chemistry between Matthew Rhys and Luke MacFarlane is electric. It is NOT there with any of the other pairings you have tried.
Please keep them together long term. The characters are different enough that they compliment each other and they really seem to "get" each other. It's one of the best pairings in primetime.
I really want my favorite character, Kevin, to have a real and lasting relationship with Scotty. Since season one they seem destined to be together. I have so enjoyed watching them become a couple again. They have both grown and can grow together, which will be an interesting process to watch.
Count me as one of the Kevin/Scotty fans. There is something special between these two. When they have a tender scenes or kiss, I just melt. They are so good together. Even when they are arguing. It's all that much more fun when they make-up!
I am an avid fan of Brothers and Sisters, haven't missed an episode. In your 2/17/08 episode, when Robert was meeting with the governor of Michigan, in every instance the governor was referred to as 'he' 'him' etc. FYI, THE GOVERNOR OF MICHIGAN IS A WOMAN!!!!! Thanks for having such a terrific show.
Kakaoke nights are supposed to be fun. And ackward & stupid & even a little charming (which Matthew Rhys WAS in his charming-pathethic rendition of "What's New Pussycat?")
Sarah & Kev are doing their trademark bitchy B&S banter at the start, trying to select a song:
Sarah: How about Dolly Parton. YOU LOVE HER!
Kevin: No, I don't.
Sarah: You remember in high school? You said she had the only pair of breasts you even noticed..."9 to 5"!
Kevin: No, no, Scotty's friends think I'm obsessed with work. Something less -- corporate...
Sarah: OK, "Freebird".
Kevin: Yeah, what are we supposed to do for a 3-minute guitar solo. Dance?
Sarah: I don't care! No, we get up, we EXPRESS ourselves! Come on, this is our chance.
Kevin: No, no, no! I'm not ready. What are you doing?
Sarah: (taking the stage alone) Singing.
Kevin: No, WE'RE supposed to sing.
Sarah: "WE" can't even decide on a song.
Kevin: I hate you!
Sarah: Oh, go get drunk.
When Sarah finally takes the stage & launches into a peppy rendition of Cher's "Believe", all the quiet & ditzy charm of the Kevin-Sarah banter quickly evaporates because Sarah's version of Cher's "Believe" not only doesn't sound like Rachel, it sounds jarringly over-produced for a spur-of-the-moment karaoke song. I get the same deja vu moment whenever I catch a rerun of "West Side Story" on TV & Natalie Wood starts to sing & it's so obviously not Natalie Wood singing & the syncing is slightly off. I was conflicted because A) I like the Cher song (this is a song I can't admit to liking in public, kind of like ABBA; too gay) and B) there was nothing spontaneous or fresh about this pre-recorded video. It's so Hollywood to take a potentially light, knockoff moment & convert it into pure canned excitement. This COULD HAVE BEEN CHARMING. You should have let Rachel sing it live; she's a fun chick (without the fake "enhancement"). Matthew sang his in his own voice & the scene grew more interesting (& I didn't feel the need to roll my eyes as with "Believe").
i was so happy about hearing that the strike is over!
please let kevin an scotty together. it took too long to have them there where they are. the chemistry between them both is still amazing and i want to see more of it.
pleeeease, don“t make me sad;)
Please, Please, Please .... keep Jason (Eric Winter) on the show ... preferably with Kevin. But whatever you do ... please breakup Kevin and Scotty. They are not a good fit. Jason and Kevin make a much better pair since they are on equal footing and can bring more character and depth into their relationship (vs. Kevin and Scotty).
Bravo Brothers and Sisters, a very interesting mix of family personalities. I like the cast. Calista, you were the perfect Ally McBeal and again the right choice.
Love seeing Sally Field but you couldn't be more wrong in putting her with Danny Glover. Does not compute..there is NO chemistry there for sure.
I'm glad you haven't been heavy handed with the gay story line. Ken Olin and wife are together again. Both great at what they do.
As long as you keep the show coming, I will be watching. Wouldn't miss it. Thanks so much.
Further clarification on the blue-eyed/brown-eyed thing. Because blue eyes are caused by having two recessive chromosomes (as in hh), and brown eyes are dominant, so can be either (HH or Hh), two brown-eyed parents (both having Hh)can have a child that is blue-eyed if it inherits the two little "h's" from each parent. However, since all blue-eyed people have two little h's (hh), two blue-eyed parents cannot have a brown-eyed child. So, in reality, Becca cannot be William and Holly's child; however, this is Hollywood.
Hello ... I don't know really what to say ... I am from Romania (Europe) and I am a huge Fan of Brothers & Sisters.
You people are the bests.
I can't wait for the fallowing 4 episodes ... and I hope that we'll have a Season 3 too.
Condratulations !!!
I miss your show! I use to watch Ally McBeal as well, many years ago. I was delighted to see Calista again in this show, and the new husband is sooo fine. Almost to hot to handle. Keep them coming we are all waiting.
Keep Scotty and Kevin together and maybe go house hunting. Or maybe Kevin can give scotty a ring... Or maybe plan the first Gay wedding on TV between Kevin and Scotty.
Come ON, my daughter, Granddaughter & MANY others are Waiting for your RETURN.
We LOVE this show......
Can't wait for you to be.... Back on the air

We expect no less, and look forward to your ever-ubiquitous posts, Will.

Hey folks so happy you are home. :)
Chiming in here about how much I love Kevin with Scotty. They are adorable as a couple and it's time for Kevin to have a lasting relationship.
I was willing to give Jason a try, but he was just so boring and pretty careless with Kevin's feelings. He may be hot, but good boyfriend he's not.
