So Much To Say, So Little To Report
Thank you for all your comments. It means a lot to hear all the familiar voices again, as well as some new ones, and to be reminded that as much as ever, there are those who watch our show with care and passion.
Let me address a couple of questions right off the bat.
1. I have no idea when the show is coming back on. We are working furiously to do justice to the stories we've begun, and until we have a more solid sense of those it would be foolhardy to raise false hopes with hopeful speculation. Rest assured that when we come back on the air, it will be with a bang, not a whimper, because the resolution to Season 2 is going to be fantastic.
2. Gossip. There's simply nothing to say that wouldn't make someone, somewhere, mad. Sorry.
3. We have a new intern, Cole, who's awesome. You'll be hearing from him in these parts soon.
4. Re the governor of Michigan -- while I can see how residents of Michigan might feel we California types don't know much about your state, and only refer to it for a quick fix of verisimilitude -- I assure you that not only do a few of us call your state home, but we're very aware of the identity of your governor. But Brothers & Sisters has always taken pains, when referring to current political figures, to fictionalize them. You'll notice that when our characters mention real-life political figures by name, they are always figures of the past. So while Clinton may have been mentioned, and I think he was, around episode 106 or so, Robert McCallister's rivals for the Republican nomination are not named McCain or Romney; they are named Adamson and Burgess. The rationale for making the Michigan governor a "he" was to clearly distinguish him from the real Gov. Granholm.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who you will never see endorsing Robert McCallister for president, either in real life or on our show.
That's all for now. Expect me to stay in touch and feel free to harangue me if I don't.
Your pal
Dan

Just so you don't think Will speaks for all gay men: I love the character of Scotty. He has a big heart, he's kind, thoughtful, loving, and has a nice self-deprecating sense of humor. He would make "a great husband" as he joked "Missionary Imposition". I'd like to see Scotty with Kevin permanently. I can't imagine their relationship ever being dull.
Jason McCallister was not the right fit for Kevin. He is too arrogant for my taste, but I find his brother arrogant too. If he must stay on the show, and I'd rather he didn't, let him serve some other capacity than complicating Kevin's love life with Scotty.

The "ABC" Online Store is offering "Kitty's Engagement Ring" for $74.95. The ad copy reads: "You may not be engaged to a senator, but you'll look like you could be with this stunning CZ ring!". The details are murky. Apparently "the ring features an almost one carat center stone and two baugettes on each side. Band is rhodium/platinum plated". I know I'm cynical, but this ring sounds almost toxic. It is to an engagement ring what Cheez-Whiz is to cheese.
I would like to see a "flashback" of Senator McCallister offering Kitty Walker this "stunning" cubic zirconia costume "engagement ring" from the online store. I can imagine her reaction.
Many B&S items can be conveniently purchased: There's the B&S insulated "tote bag" (26.95). A B&S "Walker Landing Winery Picnic Basket" ($54.95).
Nor does the fun stop with "Brothers and Sisters": I can purchase a "Dirty Sexy Money Cocktail Glass" (12.95). Come to think of it, I'd actually need a good, stiff drink to make it through another episode of "Dirty Sexy Money". It is truly, mind-bendingly dreadful. All that's needed is some "Dirty Sexy Money Vodka" to accompany these cocktail glasses. "I Love Grey's Anatomy License Plate" ($9.95). "Ugly Betty Guadalajara Cap" ($14.99). "Desperate Housewives Porcelain 'Bree' doll" ($99.99). This entry confuses me. All five dolls - Bree, Edie, Gabrielle, Lynette, Susan - can be purchased individually for $99.99. However, buy all 5 together as a "set" & the price jumps to $550.00. This does not sound like a deal to me. And the page does not even offer an Andrew Van De Kamp doll.

I'm a huge Kevin and Jason fan. I love Kevin but until Jason I've never been interested in his lovelife. Letting Eric Winter go will be one of the worst things to happen, that is if he wants to stay. Eric Winter is a keeper, his chemistry with Matthew is wonderful. Please tell the story you wanted to tell before EW went to VL.
Keep Eric Winter.

Welcome Back!!! Yipee!! Okay I watch for the Kevin/Jason moments and now that Kevin has chosen Scotty I am heartbroken. Kevin and Jason are so hot together. Also Kevin told Jason he loved him and Jason responded in kind. Kevin hasn't said that to Scotty. Kevin just keeps saying to Scotty he wants to be with him. I really believe Scotty is Kevin's rebound love because he was so hurt by Jason not calling him.
I just read the spoilers for the upcoming episode and PLEASE tell me that Becca is still a Walker. I really, really don't want to see Becca and her brother, who's not her brother NOW do the onscreen bump and grind. Please, please don't go there. I would still watch the show but me and my best friend TiVo Fast Forward would skip all the Becca/Jason scenes. Just the idea of that - ewwwwwwwwww!
I love Sarah's clothes and her scenes with Graham. Umm could we have more close-ups of Sarah's clothes? She's just so beautiful in anything she wears. And Nora and Isaac so much love. The Kitty scenes with Robert's kids were awesome.

Like others I feel shafted as well. I know Jason is brothers with Robert but seriously, the main reason folks loved him is because of his relationship with Kevin. I'm so sick and tired of the merry go round with Scotty and Kevin. Either pair them up for good or get him off the show, permanently.
We got teased with how potentially great Kevin and Jason could be only to let other things get in the way. Well Eric is back, please reunite Kevin and Jason, they belong together. Jason and Kevin just seem more on an equal footing with me and mature.
And please do something about the rebecca and Justin storyline, they have chemistry but they once thought they were siblings. How is it going to look if they start dating but I trust the writers.
I'm just glad to see that this show is back.

Will there be a Writer's Room Q&A on episodes 211 & 212???

I was really hoping to see Kevin explore a relationship a lot further this season. Last season ended with some reason to believe that this would happen. I think the writers have missed an opportunity to bring a complete same-sex relationship to tv for Kevin with either Jason or Scotty. I’m getting tired of loving this show for what it could be (I’m certainly tired of watching Kevin mess things up without understanding why he does this – there needs to be a real reason).
Too often, gay couples are depicted as just about sex or just about some common experience (e.g., facing adversity). Writers – please show us a couple that loves each other in every way that two people should or at least is trying to. If you can’t do that then at least make Kevin’s relationships interesting. I’ll probably still watch but if I know you aren’t going to develop a real relationship then I won’t feel let down by each episode.
Hanging on . . .

Rebecca: Team Walker. Forever and ever. The End!
You have given us so many compelling characters and stories, which is why we are so passionate about your show. And why we are here, giving you the tough love. So step away from this deck chair, please, and start shifting the others. (Yes, Rev. Ex, I'm batting my eyelashes at you.)

I LOVE YOUR SHOW! PLS DON'T BREAK UP THE KEVIN/SCOTTY RELATIONSHIP. I LOVE WATCHING THEM EVENTHOUGH I'M A STRAIGHT CHRISTIAN KIND OF PERSON. LET THEIR RELATIONSHIP EVOLVE AND PROVE TO THE WORLD THAT GAY COUPLE CAN BE HAPPY.

Congratulations to Monica and Alison! Please introduce us to the new writing team, and make a video when you can. I am a big fan of "The Writers" Room"

Throw us a bone will ya? It's been 2 weeks...

Last week I wrote a post that, in retrospect, may have been needlessly alarmist about the potential Rebecca storyline. (And my guess is that's why it wasn't published.)
In any event, I want to reiterate my love for this show and the universe of characters Berlanti & Co. have created. I trust the writers will do right by these characters and it is my sincere hope the final episodes of Season 2 end the season on a really strong note.
Briefly, my hopes for the rest of the season are...
Keep Kevin/Scotty together and allow their relationship to to grow and deepen.
Keep Rebecca a Walker. That's her proper role in the series, and the only oucome consistent with Season 1.
Give Sally Field a dynamite storyline. For whatever reason, she's been sidelined the past couple of episodes. Even though Danny Glover's contract with the show is limited, I'm hoping these last few episodes enable the writers to really flesh out this fascinating relationship between Nora and Isaac.
Keep giving Rachel Griffiths the type of breezy humor she excels at.
Above all, I want to see more of the Walker family together, and a return of the humor and quirkiness that we adore so much about this series. Thank you for reading.

I am so glad to see the show coming back. I do want to put a pitch in for the Jason character. His relationship with Kevin had a real spark, in the way that Scotty never could master. Please bring them back together and write a bigger role for Jason.

Any news? I dont know what to do with myself on Sunday Evenings. I have strategically worked my schedule around for this show and have used TiVo most often. Couldn't wait for it to come back on and now it's off again! I need to see my Brothers & Sisters!!!!!!

Well, St. Patrick's Day weekend is coming, and HOW I wish we could spend part of it seeing the Walkers get their Irish on, especially Kevin (good Irish name!) and Sarah. I understand your need to jump ahead this year, but I hope that in Season 3 the sibs will take us to Molly Malone's for "what Walkers do best." And who knows who else they will run into in that overflow crowd at Molly's? (Are the McCallisters Scots, Irish, or all of the above?) Plus, it would float my boat to hear some Flogging Molly or Dirges on the soundtrack. (Or the Tossers' classic "No Loot, No Booze, No Fun" for the morning after.) You could call the episode "Murphy's Law." Heee!

For crying out loud ~~ it's the only good show on ~~ Sunday night is not the same anymore since you have not been on in two weeks. PLEASE!!!!!

Bectin? Justbecca? NOOOOO!
Steer the ship away from those fins, Cap'n, that's a very bad idea! Let's focus on Nora's plans and what the kids think of that.

I second Colleen's latest remarks. I love this show dearly, and it's been years since I've been so invested in a group of characters. The Walkers are without a doubt one of the best TV families ever created.
It is precisely because of my love of this show that I feel compelled to say: If it is revealed that either Rebecca or Justin is not a Walker (the latter scenario could only be accomplished by Nora being unfaithful, which would destroy her character)...then I will be very close to turning off the TV.
Please don't go there. You've created a series where the familial interactions between the characters are organic and fascinating. There's absolutely no need for shocking twists that detrimentally rewrite the show's history.
