Season 1 DVD To Hit Stores Sept 18!

Hello B&S fans --

A couple things to report from Burbank on this most unusual Tuesday morning post.

1.  B&S beat Cavemen 17-7 Saturday.  Our next game is 9/15 at 10:30AM v. Grey's Anatomy -- who BLANKED us 6-0 last year.  Does the word "payback" mean anything real to you, or is it just the rather clunky moniker for no less than 5 forgotten TV movies and 6 anonymous features?

2.  I had the great good fortune to attend last night's B&S DVD launch party at the San Antonio Winery downtown.  Our associate producer, Sparky Hawes did a fantastic job coordinating the party with Jennifer Lang and Darrell Borquez of Buena Vista Home Entertainment.  Great foodlets, lovely wines and a well-appointed turnout made it a night to remember... to say nothing of the post-event rager at the lair of actor/party-dog/tripod Trip Baitz.

Will and Jules partied deep into the night at Trip's after-party.

Plus there was the inordinately satisfying schwag bag, which included -- you guessed it -- a gorgeous shrink-wrapped copy of Season 1.  Let it be known that the box is printed on recycled paper, and not the plastic of yore.

If you buy Season 1 on Sept 18, that will give you 12 days to re-watch the whole thing before Season 2 premieres Sept 30.  That's 2 a day, folks.

All the best,
Dan

A brief note on boxed sets:

I don't mean to be a fly on the picnic table, but I have bought several boxed sets of TV shows now, & have never re-watched any of them. They're all sitting on a shelf. I have THOUGHT about maybe re-watching some of them.....but no dice. I will buy the season one boxed set of B&S only if I can get it in the accompanying (& "inordinately satisfying") context of a party "SCHWAG BAG" that you all received....

Can't wait for the DVD to come out. Am especially excited about the commentaries with Robbie Baitz - looking forward to his take on it all. Thanks for keeping us updated.

OK. Since the clock is now counting down to the B&S season premiere, here are some of my favorite "COMMENTS" from discerning viewers (taken between Sept. '06 & Jan. '07), a series of responses to the (then) Kevin-Scotty storyline:

"Hate the gay scenes....choose not to watch....pushing it down our throats....Sick, sick, sick...." - CHARLEY

"...am sorry Disney is trying to make it seem normal" - JILL

"If the gay part was left off, you could have all types of people as your audience" - JANICE

"Repulsive....since when is abnormal sex entertaining?" - ELAINE

"THIS IS NOT AN ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLE!" - TAMMY

"...the kissing of 2 males in lover's lane....Congratulations, you've just entered the realm of spiritually dead programming" - SANDIE

"Liberal....offensive....have to take a shower" - UNSIGNED COMMENT

"Please don't have episodes of the homosexuals kissing or whatever lengths you're willing to go as writers! Brokeback Mountain addressed these issues & I chose not to watch that movie" - DEB

"Sick....Sodom & Gomorrah. Get ready." - CRIS

"A great show has now turned to JUNK to please the gay people....Let's leave some things to the imagination" - BONK

"AAAHHHHHHH!" - RICK

"The show was better before you writers got horny." - ERIC

Hope Season 2 gives us something to talk about. Will.

Great Show

How about B&S on iTunes for season one and a season pass for the upcoming one?

I found my copy of Season 1 in my P.O. Box today, and I just finished watching the first episode, for the first time!

I was serving with the U.S. Army (the 10th Mtn. Light Infantry Division) in Afghanistan last year, so the first episode I saw was when Kitty woke up in bed next to Senator McCallister.

I was astonished at how much like Ally McBeal Kitty Walker is. Remember how Ally used to fall or go to the bathroom when she was embarrassed? Kitty did both in this scene - falling out of bed only to run immediately to the bathroom! I laughed so hard I almost fell onto the floor myself!

For me, this is a good thing, because I became infatuated with Calista when she was playing Ally, so she's the reason I'm even watching this series, and I'm delighted to see that she hasn't changed much!

I hope Brothers & Sisters produce in Tiwan!! I love this show!!

I finished watching Season 1 on DVD this weekend! What a marathon! So much comedy! So much drama! I don't think I've ever screamed so many obscenities or laughed so hard in one weekend!

Perhaps the most hilarious scene for me was the grotesquely obese Executive Matchmaker giving Sally and Calista advice on how to attract men. I know Sally and Calista are really supposed to be Nora and Kitty in this drama, but this scene shattered the illusion. Sally may predate black and white television, but I'd still find her more attractive than that matchmaker with or without any earrings! Let alone Calista!

Then the scene with the fake butt... Hilarious! It's good to see Calista is still "game," to use a word Ally used to describe what Nelle wasn't.

I look forward to another season of hilarity!
