The New Guy Speaketh
Greetings from Burbank! This is Ryan Crist, the writer’s intern here at B&S. I’m kind of the new kid on the block, only having been in the office for a few weeks now, but I’ve quickly learned how lucky I am to be here. The people here are incredible, honestly some of the kindest, friendliest, most talented folks I’ve ever been fortunate enough to work with. However, they’re also incredibly busy, which is why the blog hasn’t been updated as regularly as we’d like…I’ll do my best to help get it back up to speed!
Starting tomorrow, we’ll be shooting the first episode of season two, written by the dynamic duo themselves, Monica Breen and Alison Schapker. It’s a truly terrific script, and as a fan of the show, watching it all start to come together production-wise is a bit surreal. I like to think that I exhibit a fairly professional veneer, but below the surface, I’m just a colossal dork, totally new to Los Angeles and the magic that is television production. I try and play it cool, but as the wide-eyed new guy, being a part of the process is about as thrilling as it gets.
Along these lines, my favorite part about being the office intern is that I get to be that proverbial fly-on-the-wall, sitting in with the writers when they brainstorm story ideas/watch the Dramatic Chipmunk forty-seven times in a row. Seriously though, you couldn’t put twelve more talented people in a room together (thirteen if you count the chipmunk). The ideas they’re working on for season two are so exciting – I really can’t wait to see what you guys think (and I’m sure you’ll let us know!)
Well, it’s getting close to my afternoon coffee run, so that’ll be it for today. Keep checking back – I’ll try and post more in the coming days and weeks, along with help from the rest of the gang!

Ryan: You'd better tell us that Kevin kicks off the first show of Season 2 with a funky, torrid one-night-stand. In mother Nora's house.
OK. Sexy muscular bedroom sex. And then Nora walks in on them in bed in the morning (of course, being the perfect P-Flag mom, Nora would smile & act fairly nonchalant). See...Kevin's spending the weekend with mom & he fails to alert her that he's bringing home a "guest". And Leonardo DiCaprio would be an excellent guest star.
OK, Ryan, I'm just being weird (& the first script is already written anyways). GOOD LUCK to everybody getting the flow of that *snap* *crackle* & *pop* dialogue going. It's always funnier when it's fast & neurotic & they talk over each other. :)

Yay, more slaves to the blog. Where are the other blog slaves? Have they been sold on the market? We haven't seen or heard from them since.
And glad to meet you, slave Ryan. :)

Without revealing too much detail, how did you get the job as writer's intern? It's not the kind of job you see posted anywhere.

Welcome, Ryan! =) First episode of Season Two -- how exciting! Thanks for updating the blog. I needed a BS fix. One suggestion... could the bloggers start posting mugs of writers/directors/producers when it mentions one? I get confused who's who. We know who all the actors are, but putting a face with the name would definitely help with the rest of the crew, at least for me.

Hi:
Good luck on the job. Being part of the creative process is a very exciting thing. As a fellow dork, I'm sure I would be over the moon with a job like yours. Don't be afraid to let your enthusiasm shine through because I'm sure it will carry you far. I'm looking forward to hearing from you as the second season progresses. Best wishes.

Wow Ryan you are really lucky. I guess a lot of people would "kill" to be an intern at B&S.
I hope your doing well there and can't wait to hear more about your day at the new job.
Congratulations :)

One of last seasons episodes, recently re-aired, featured an actor (Jason Lewis) who was a love interest for Kevin (gay lawyer, may not have name right) and he had a Pug dog named a Lolita and was a closet bisexual...was that a veiled reference to actor Gerard Butler? If not, it sure was a coincidence. Absolutely love this series - especialy the Rob Lowe/Calista Flockheart storyline.
