Sunday Recap, Odds and Ends

Some big developments on Sunday night's episode, just to recap a little:
-    Rebecca claims that Joe kissed her while she was at the house getting a guitar lesson. If true, this threatens to rip open the already strained-beyond-capacity denial of marital problems between Sarah and Joe. Not to mention that of all people to cross the line with, Rebecca is a heightened slap in the face to the struggling Sarah. But did it happen the way Rebecca claims? We have yet to see the interaction, or hear Joe’s side of the story. Just how trust-worthy is Rebecca? We still don’t know exactly what happened in Chicago that led to her impromptu return. Time, as they say, will tell.
-    Welcome Jason McCallister. Pull up a chair and stay awhile. There was an overwhelming positive response to the introduction of Senator McCallister’s gay brother Jason. After an ill advised set up and a disastrous first encounter, it may be awhile before we know if sparks will fly between Jason and Kevin. But it was nice to see someone take Kevin to task for his sometimes over-opinionated diatribes.
-    I think we can all agree that the incomparable Matthew Rhys does an incredibly accurate and disturbingly funny imitation of a dinosaur.

As many of you know by now, we did in fact win a GLAAD Award on Saturday evening!! The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation saw fit to bestow upon us the award for Outstanding Drama Series. Very exciting. Below are pictures from the event. As always, click the image for the full size version.

Thank you to everyone at GLAAD. We'll do our best to keep up the good work!

And lastly, on a much more serious note, everyone here would like to extend our hearts and sympathies to the friends and families of the victims of Monday’s horrific and senseless Virginia Tech shooting. There is no way to comprehend such a tragedy. Family members of those slain or injured have united to declare this Friday, April 20th, a national day of recognition and solidarity by having "Orange and Maroon Effect Day.” The day was started several years ago with Tech fans wearing orange and maroon to Virginia Tech athletic events. They are encouraging everyone to honor those killed in the heartbreaking incident as well as show support for Virginia Tech students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and friends. They have our support. In addition, car bombs in the Sadriya neighborhood of Baghdad yesterday killed 171 mostly Shiite Muslims and injured more than 150. Unfortunate as it is that there will be no outcry for national mourning in this country, human suffering and the death of innocent civilians is a tragedy wherever it occurs, and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone. We have to take care of each other. Be well.

Yes Sunday's episode did leave off on a great suspenseful note! Any word on when the new episode will air. I saw that April 22nd will be a rerun.

And yes, Matthew Rhys makes a fantastic dinosaur impression. I though it was one of the most adorable things I've seen.

btw, LOVE the arrival of JM. Kevin may have to chase this one! And as always, I'll be there to watch it every step of the way,

You guys are sweet. And thank you for the support of the victims of VT. It is really a tragedy.

Best of luck.

I am so happy that Brothers & Sisters won an award for Outstanding Drama, you guys deserve it and hope there will be more awards to come.

B&S has really inspired me to take up on writing, the writing is brilliant so keep up the awesome work.

Its great to see Jason, and it will be great to see more of him in the future. Do write an awesome twist for Kevin's love storyline . =P

Lastly,I would like to extend my deepest sympathies and prayer to those who had lost their loved one in Virgina T. Shooting.

Cheers to the writers, the actors and actresses, the crew ! You guys are awesome!!

I watch your show religiously, but I have to say, I'm cringing at this new turn of events on last week's episode with Joe and Rebecca. I really like Joe and am rooting for him! I hope Rebecca isn't doing this to get attention because it's sure a thoughtless way to do so. After all, Joe and Sarah did welcome her into their home.

On a more general note, I love this show!

Again, Art, thanks for B&S info here; topics for discussion; & you are offering a nice human element that we've not really had before.

Very, very nice to see the large turnout of cast-members at a GLAAD Awards show. Seems to me there was a time (say, less than 15 years ago) when actors would get nervous & second-guess the effects on their career of showing up at gay awards shows, let alone play a gay character on TV. Times seem to be changing - slowly! (By the way, we are watching closely! The Kitty-Senator & Kevin-Jason storylines are now officially entwined, one will compliment or bounce off the other....What this means is, in the interest of fairness, Kev & Jason will get to have equal parity on the sexual-romantic front as Kitty & her man! Where's Kevin & Jason's "kissing scene" with helicopters roaring in the background, mussing up their hair??)

And if you would oblige us Art, give us some very basic info here: how many episodes are left for this season? What is the status - however it stands now - on Eric Winter returning? Since you've been picked up for another season, where are some storylines headed? (Without giving too much away of course).

Last weekend I posted a comment that did not show up on the thread & I wonder if it even went through...
I thought it would be interesting for our man Kevin to (somehow, details not worked out) gain custody of an 8 or 9 year old child. Or, jeez, even a 15-year-old kid having major issues with his sexuality....his parents kick him out of the house maybe....This kind of idea has been done before, but I would love to put KEVIN in a position of parental responsibility for 5 or 6 episodes (enough time to fully develop a storyline). For some reason a "difficult" kid moves in with him (or, more properly, Kevin benevolently takes him in). He soon finds out he has bitten off more than he can chew; problem children come with....well, problems. But I think it would be hugely enjoyable & touching (Matthew's the right actor) to show Kevin get out of himself, have some parental resposibility unexpectedly forced on him & watch as he navigates being put in a "father" role, watch a bond slowly develop between surrogate father & surrogate son. Kevin already is such a multi-faceted character that has not been truly "tested" or pushed out of his comfort zone yet. I think Kevin could play a gay father - AND juggle a lovelife! - with dextrous emotional import. I always picture Kevin as Heidi in Wendy Wasserstein's "Heidi Chronicles". Always searching the boundaries of existence (in an existential sense) & trying to find your place in the world. And this kind of story could be a searching, sentimental journey for the audience & provide character growth for Kevin.

"Welcome Jason McCallister. Pull up a chair and stay awhile. There was an overwhelming positive response to the introduction of Senator McCallister’s gay brother Jason."

I was pleasantly surprised by Eric Winter as Jason McCallister. I am curious how this storyline will play out since Eric has a large role in a pilot for CBS in the fall. Is he allowed to do both roles?

A relationship between Kevin and Jason could be difficult if Kitty and Robert continue as a couple and Robert continues his Presidential bid as a Republican.

A lot of Robert's support base (including the billionaire backer) will likely have problems with this.

I agree with another poster that the relationships in the show are much more interesting than the politics. I don't see how the two story lines can mix and both be successful.

I love this show, and I have faith in the writers.

Congratulations on the GLAAD award!

My deepest sympathies to all affected by the tragedies that have taken place recently here in the states and around the world.

This is the 1st of many awards to come! Congratulations to cast and crew for a wonderful show. Thank for such entertainment every sunday. I don't whatch alot of tv shows. Mostly reality junkie. Brothers and Sister is one of few shows I watch and I am hooked. Kudos. Great episode "Game Night" very entertaining.

an emmy award for rachel griffiths......

rhys is fine but she is stunning and she deserves the best in my opinion.....

On a much smaller note, who played Mr. Jones (Jones family/game day)? I'm definitely having a mental block with names these days.

Now that they have shown two men actually kissing, the majority of the veiwers will come from the gay community.

"Now that they have shown two men actually kissing, the majority of the veiwers will come from the gay community."

NOW that they have shown two men actually kissing?

I can tell you are a regular viewer. Where were you around episode five?

I hate to break it to you, this show does extremely well in the female demographics.

I LOVE this show! It is moving and funny! Great writing and great cast. I hope Rob Lowe stays. His character keeps Kitty on her toes.

Thanks to everyone in the cast and producers of Bros & Sis. I love this show. Number one on my list!! Thanks for everyone's hard work in making such a wonderful story line of a really close fit family , who are there for everyone. There have been many times I have cried just so emotional and full of love and support from each other. Thanks again , your number one fan always!!!!

So what really down with Rebecca and Joe? Was it like the first version we saw where Joe just kissed her or was it Joe's version where Rebecca flirted with him and then brought her game up after the kiss?
