New Episode Sunday -- "The Valentine's Day Massacre"

Readers.

Something has been gnawing at us all week here at Brothers & Sisters. Everyday, I've said to myself, 'Jeez -- I should really write a blog.' And everyday I've nodded, then gone back to doing whatever other useless thing was at hand. I've mentioned it to a few other bloggers, and each time I get the same thing: a nod, and a lazy resumption of standard operating procedure. Disgraceful. I blame the sealed windows and lack of fresh air.

Today I had planned to go down to set and do a set diary. I even wore a pocket protector and pad holster. Then I got to work and realized we were on location. Which ironically was down the street from my house.

Regardless. The blog has imploded this week. Sorry for that. But this SUNDAY we've got a NEW episode, and perhaps one of the best so far: "The Valentine's Day Massacre," written by erstwhile bloggboys Cliff Olin and Pete Calloway. In it, Kitty goes on a very special fundraising trip with Sen. Robert McCallister, Justin reconnects with an old flame, and Kevin finds himself in a peculiarly enticing romantic bind... I think you'll be very happy about that one.

Have a great weekend.

I think you're forgetting about Scotty. There is a possibility that he and Michelle are friends. If you paid any attention to what Scotty said in episode 5, "Date Night," there were a few clues. The first scene between him and Kevin, Scotty said, "I feel like an understudy, who never gets to go on stage." Another clue is when Scotty and Kevin were walking to the car from the Indian Restaurant and Scotty was comparing L.A. to N.Y.. This is a clue that Scotty's been to N.Y. and has stayed there. Fastforward to episode 12, "Sexual Politics," and Chad mentions to Kevin that his girlfriend, Michelle, is a stage actress and was currently in N.Y. for a performance. Also, remember, that Scotty in L.A. is a continual temp worker...he has a lot of jobs by temping. The insurance company which he ratted out he was temping for. Plus, he's a cater-waiter.

I'm sure when Scotty was in N.Y., he probably did some acting and was temping jobs to support himself and decided to come to L.A. to try out. But the fact that Michelle and Scotty are friends is not a far-fetched as it may seem since the acting world tends to be small.

As for your other post, Kevin is being treated like the other woman in Chad's life. It's a horrible place to be in, whether you be a guy or girl. And the fact that Chad wanted to protect his image even on Valentine's Day, of all days, Kevin really has the right to be with Scotty since Chad didn't want to be with Kevin. And the fact that Chad laid a pretty hefty guilt trip on Kevin after the fact makes him look like an arse.

There's still chemistry between Kevin & Scotty (and that's because Matthew & Luke do wonderful jobs with their characters), but no matter how much Chad wants to be with Kevin, Jason Lewis still has like zilch on-screen chemistry with Matthew Rhys, and it just makes it unbelievable that he is in love with someone like Matthew/Kevin.

I am in love with the show, but after the Valentines Day episode I felt uneasy. Then I realized the emptiness of a presidential race---and no mention of our nation being in a disasterous war in Iraq. So is this family living in a never-never-land, and only pretending to be real?

The beginning had me laughing so hard that I had to watch it more than once!
Loved Rob Lowe's reference to Demi Moore!
The show does get better all the time.
Thanks for making me laugh!

Love Love Love the show!!! The Cell phone scene was GREAT. And to make it even better, the FLASH BACK gave real perspective to what was happening. Just love seeing Chad cry, it gives the Character more depth and believabity, especially since he said he was going to tell his Girlfriend (even though I don't think he will)

Keep up the great work. I reserve my Sunday nights for B & S.

Thanks Guys!!

Tonight's episode was one of the best so far. The opening sequence with the connecting phone conversations was television at it's best.

The Emily and Nora scenes were great. These two actresses played off each other superbly. I loved every minute of their scenes together. I would love to see some more Margot Kidder on this show.

Now, I have to get onto this whole Kevin/Chad/Scotty fiasco. What a mess!

First, let me thank the writers for those great Scotty and Kevin scenes. I felt happiness when they both ran into each other at the bar. I felt sad for Kevin has he looked past Scotty to see his closet case boyfriend kissing his beard on the dance floor. And it broke my heart to see Scotty feel so hurt from what he believed was Kevin using him as bait to get Chad jealous after their night together.

The nerve of Chad to suddenly declear he's going to tell his girlfriend he's gay. The way he put Kevin on the spot forcing him into a guilt trip was sad. I can't wait for Kevin to get past this relationship because the outcome is going to be just terrible. On Kevin's part it's pure infatuation. He's fallen in love with what he consider's a "greek God" instead of looking for something deeper. His shallowness has won out. He's put his heart on the line for what he see's as some 'hot looking' guy, and he will no doubt pay a heavy price for this.

It does appear like we may have seen the last of Scotty. Pity, since Luke MacFarlane and Matthew Rhys had unmistakable chemistry together. Last night everything about their interaction was belivable. They simply sizzle on screen together. It's not easy getting two actors to play off each other so well. They seem like the real thing. I feel this is quite a loss of a great find in Luke MacFarlane as Scotty.

"but no matter how much Chad wants to be with Kevin, Jason Lewis still has like zilch on-screen chemistry with Matthew Rhys, and it just makes it unbelievable that he is in love with someone like Matthew/Kevin."

Completly agree with you Kong Chang. The spark is just not there. I mean, look at last nights scenes at the bar with Matthew Rhys and Luke MacFarlane... They played it so well their was no doubt you believed Kevin and Scotty still had deep feelings for each other, whereas Jason Lewis has far more chemistry with his female co star in terms of body language, kissing, etc. When Lewis is on screen with Rhys there's nothing. Their chemistry's about as warm as a cold dead fish. It almost feels unfair that Chad has had more intimate scenes with Kevin, whereas with Scotty we got two kissing scenes, granted they were well appriciated, but then they argued until they broke up. And to think we didn't even get a breakup hug. Not even last night were we thrown a crumb, it was valentines after all, we just got scotty departing from Kevin's apartment vexed. Still, their scenes together were beautiful and left many fans wanting more. All this due to the strength of Rhys and MacFarlane playing their parts the way it's suppose to be played... with belief.

I'm with you Kong Chang, I would love to see Scotty return, but after last night's ep, I really doubt it.

And congratulations on holding onto a pretty decent audience considering Brothers & Sisters always seems to be up against some big event. Recently it was the NFL, and then last night it was the grammys. Some good numbers especially after the hiatus.

Maxine:
I hear you. Scotty was unceremoniously dumped/discarded. Kevin did seem a little cold-blooded. He literally slept with Scotty that night & was on the cellphone the next morning chatting up Chad, working THAT relationship (& Scotty within hearing range).
Goodbye, Scotty. Sorry to see your last appearance this season was as a plot gimmick.

The Show was awesome last night. I thought it was hilarious seeing Nora Smoking pot with Emily because she seems so uptight. It was great to see Kitty and Sen. McCallister finally admit their true feelings for each other. It also seems that Kevin is finally getting over his intimacy issues now that he is seeing Chad. I hope you keep Chad on the show as Kevin's love interest because they are so cute together. I know everyone likes scotty but chad seems more like Kevins type so please get them to make up and keep them together because Kevin really likes him and he deserves to be happy.

OH My Maxine! (February 12, 2007 at 04:37 PM),

I'm on your boat. Out of all your words I pick this winner: SIZZLE.

Thanks for a good read.

Best Episode so far!

I loved Margot Kidder, as Nora's friend.

The Kevin, Chad, Scottie triangle was working better then I could've hoped for. I was not a huge support of the "Chevin" thing from the start. As a gay man I was offended that Kevin would make those choices. I'm glad to see where the story line is going though. I think like a lot of fans, we'd rather see more of "Scevin".

D.W. Moffit, was great! I loved how went after Kitty.

I even like Dave Annabel's storyline; the idea of dragging the neice and nephew along was priceless.

Shelly

Please keep Chad and Kevin together, I love to watch these two together, very hot!
