New Episode Sunday -- "Something Ida This Way Comes"

Hello hell0,

Don't miss Sunday's episode, when the kids throw Nora a surprise 60th birthday party at which the most surprising element is the presence of HER mom, Ida. And you thought Nora was a strong personality! Other things to look forward to: Justin's (temporary) return from Rehab By The Sea; Kitty and the Senator alone in the closet; and a very special Nora Walker tribute video goes horribly awry.

Monday morning, "Bloggers & Sisters" will feature a look behind "Something Ida..."  by none other than the writers of the episode:  Sherri Cooper and David Marshall Grant. I think you'll find it one of our most enlightening blogs thus far.

Have a great weekend.

Dan

Ooh, I can't wait to hear what the writers have to say!

I also wish one of these days you can also do podcasts for your show like the "Grey's Anatomy" creators do. Maybe in the future. But that would also be so cool.

But I can't wait to watch this upcoming Sunday episode, before the 2 week hiatus of repeats. This is definitely needed. :)

Can't wait for Sunday!

I would also like to make a brief comment about the Scotty character that seems to be "all the rage". DON'T BE MISLEAD! There are devoted fans of the show that don't give a flying flip if Scotty returns! We even feel that he and Kevin are completely WRONG for each other! We may not be as vocal as some here on the blog, but that's our opinion and we're sticking to it!

Take 2. The Kevin/soap star episode. Critics from this blog are RAVING:

"Repulsive....since when is abnormal sex entertaining? It's sad that actors & actresses spend time & energy on such distasteful programming....will never watch again"......ELAINE
"Turned the set off immediately & will not watch again."......JOAN
"Disgusting....watching men kiss each other."......TAMMY
"Stop trying to shove that stuff down our throats!"......CAC
"Call me old-fashioned or prejudiced..."......BEV
"Hope it's taken off the air."......DONNA
"The 'in your face' gay sexuality is going to ruin the show!"......KELLY
"Liberal....offensive"......UNSIGNED COMMENT
"Sick....Sodom & Gommorah. Get ready."......CRIS

LOVE these comments! SOOOO entertaining. Keep 'em coming....

I think you got got your characters mixed up. Nora didnt play mrs. cunningham. Nora is Sally Field!

ooops, my error. Marion Ross is obviously playing the grandmother. MY BAD!

KUDOS MARION! You put into words the thoughts of a whole lot of us out here in viewerland.

Take 3: (Final take before the new show.)

"...the kissing of 2 males in lover's lane....Congratulations, you've entered the realm of spiritually dead programming."......SANDIE
(this was posted, oddly enough, 10 blogs ago. But dated Jan. 16)
"This is not an alternative lifestyle."......TAMMY
"I don't have anything wrong with 2 gay couples, but why is it you have to start showing those unnecessary scenes?"......MARIA FABIAN
"Disgusting kissing..."......MEGHAN
"The show was better before you writers got horny."......ERIC

And this next one is my all-time favorite, although not from last week's show. It's dated Oct. 24, 2006, which would make it a Kevin-Scotty observation:
"Please don't have episodes of the homosexuals kissing or whatever lengths you're willing to go as writers! Brokeback Mountain addressed these issues & I chose not to see that movie."......DEB

i agree with you Marion on scotty i couldn't care less if he does not come back and i think there are many other fans who feel the same way

Hey everyone, I cant wait for tonites episode, i heard someone say there was going to be 25 episodes this season, is that true? If it is that would be awsome. As for the whole gay kiss crap that has been going on, I think you all need to get over yourselves, If you dont like it dont watch. If you open your eyes you will see it everyday all around you, and as others have said im sure if your own son was gay you would still love him. Anyway just want to say, Im straight and I think its cool that you are showing stuff like this. GREAT JOB, and I cant wait for the rest of the season.

Read ANOTHER logic-free comment about B&S "shoving the homosexual agenda down everyone's throats".

Let's take this real slow, so even the dumb & dumber among us can get it. Whoever created the universe, created gay penguins, gay doves, gay panda bears. Almost every species of animals exhibit gay behaviour. (Not kidding either.) Animals & people can be gay. Animals & people are part of nature. Therefore "gay" is natural (being in nature). I am gay, & I'll bet if I look real deep enough into my own sexual psychology & get away from the moralizers, I might be surprised to find out part of me is "straight" as well. I am, after all, part of nature.

Unfortunately, you guys who do not like Scotty are in the minority. There's a huge bunch of us who actually do like Scotty and want to see him back, and the comments of blogs pasts show proof.

2 hours until tonight's ep here. Can't wait. I hope we get a lot of the Senator. From the promos - I stay away from spoilers and just get any spoilers the old fashioned way from the often misleading ones right on tv - but it looks like the Senator and Kitty might get together. Not sure why he'd be at Nora's birthday party but I'm not complaining. Looking forward to it!

My wife and I enjoy the show. The explicit kissing scene with the gay brother was way over the top. If ABC plans to continue with the gay love scenes, we will not be viewers for long.

I was really enjoying Brothers and Sisters until the last two episodes. I am repulsed by the scenes with two men kissing and I will not watch this show again.

This episode got me falling on the floor with laughter. I am absolutely *in love* with Kevin. Ugh, I am jealous of that actor!

Anyway, the Senator is awesome... I love when he walks into a scene... and His thing with Kittie= awesome. I can't wait until they get together!

This episode was very good. Men kissing aside, it really speaks about how families work. Also, Rob Lowe - sizzling hot!

This was W-Wonderful!!!

Have I told you lately that I love you?

and let's dance. Par-tay.
: ) : ) : ) : )

Wow. WHERE have I been?! Just stumbled on this show at the advice of some friends, and it's some of the best stuff on TV in years. So well written, and wonderfully cast.

And just what IS it about Rob Lowe? Much as ya try to hate him, he continues to prove that he's super talented, sexy...plus he has great chemistry with Calista on this show. I hope he stays.

I'm hooked.

Brothers & Sisters and Grey's Anatomy, both, this week just blew me away.
Tonight, Nora's mom is identical to mine--pure narcissist--tears apart those closest to her, and wonders why she's alone.
Grey's Anatomy--the dying dad thing, same, should we pull the plug nightmare?! Thanks for the depth and deep reality you write in your fiction!!
Please jettison MEN IN TREES--absolute garbage!
What happened to SIX DEGREES? It had nuance, mystery and never revealed the backstory on most characters before it was pulled from ABC.

Very, very important...the music at the end of this episode is so fantastic and I can't get any info on who it's by or how to get it!!!!!!! Please let me know as I am going crazy trying to find anything about this song and artist. Much appreciated if you can clue me in!!

I have been impressed with this new show from the beginning - however! After watching tonight's show, I have to say that I actually had to turn away from the screen. Watching two men "get it on" was just too much - HBO, but ABC should be showing this. I am not against their relationship. It's just not a subject for family viewing - remember "Elan's" old show? I'm not alone in my opinion. I'm afraid you will doom this program to an early grave if you continue along these lines.

Just finished watching "Something Ida This Way Comes" and now I'm looking forward to reading what the writers will share tomorrow! Excellent episode, really close to home with the passive- aggressive family tug-of-war but it's always great fun to see!

Well done with the disintegration of the party--I've helped organize enough of those "big family events" to know you guys got it true: all that was missing was for the donkey from "Bachelor Party" to show up!

Yet another excellent episode. Thank you for having the courage to show two men in bed together. It's such a pleasure to see you challenging the preconveived notions of how gay men live their lives.

I have loved David Marshall Grant, since "Happy Birthday, Gemini," to "American Flyers," to his role on "Thirtysomething," to "Angels In America," and everything inbetween. When I saw that he co-wrote Sundays episode, i clapped with glee. It would be so wonderful, if he wrote himself a nice juicy part, so we can see him on the show....he such a great actor.

I love this show, and every character. I think they're all written with such dignity and respect So, if some of you don't want to see gay people dipicted on television, right along side us "normal" people (whatever that means) If you don't want two men or two women kissing, that's perfectly ok...this is America, afterall. There is this wonderful thing that was created....it's called the on/off switch, and with the help of the remote, you can even do it without leaving the comfort of your chair. No one is putting a gun to your head, forcing you to watch. PersonalIy, i get hives, everytime Wheel Of Fortune is about to start, but i don't want Vanna White to be unemployed(well, i do a little)i just turn the channel, and don't watch. It's really very simple, you should try it. I refuse to allow close minded, intolerant, and bigoted people speak for me, about what is acceptable and ok for me to watch on MY tv.

I love Sally Fields. Why did you have to put gay guys on this show. If that is the audience you want, you will have it. I am not anti gay but why does this have to be part of the show? If the gay part was left off, you could have all types of people as your audience.
