We're Baaaack.
That’s right. Cliff and I are back. Well… sort of. We were assigned episode 116, which means we’re going to disappear again in the next couple of days as we dive headlong into another episode.
What about 112? What about “Light the Lights?” It went really, really well; of course, we had the standard hiccups (rewrites, production issues, etc) along the way. We haven’t seen a cut of the episode yet – probably won’t until later this week – but Cliff and I feel positive about what was put on film. In fact, we’re pretty sure it’s the greatest episode of television that has ever been produced.
But let’s get back to more important things… like the blog.
First, the comments on the blog have been great. Seriously. They’ve been great. As one commentator pointed out, reading the responses to both parts of “Mistakes Were Made” has been like watching a mini-episode unfold. First, there were the individual issues that everyone had. Then, there was fighting and a lot of tension. Then, and most important, there was reconciliation. It wasn’t resolution – with most of these issues, there doesn’t seem to be any suitable resolution for everyone. But you know what? That’s okay. In fact, it might even be better.
At the risk of sounding like a children’s book, everyone is different and that’s a GREAT thing. To paraphrase the pilot of Brothers & Sisters (hooray for narcissism!): We fight. But who cares as long as we can make a home with each other.
So if you don’t like what our characters say on this show… good! We want to hear. We just ask that you treat us, and everyone who disagrees with you, with respect – we promise to do the same. As a few of our wise readers pointed out, we’re all in this together.
Second, we’ve received a lot of questions about Boston Legal being in our time slot. Don’t worry! We aren’t going anywhere. The last episode you saw 8 days ago, was 111. We didn’t finish SHOOTING 112 until Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. To put it on last night (or even this upcoming Sunday) wouldn’t have been possible. We knew this all along; it was planned. As for why Boston Legal is in our timeslot now… that’s a question we can’t answer – ABC makes those decisions. We’ll be back on the 10th with “Light the Lights.”
Loose Change (Formerly Tidbits - thanks for the suggestion ilovemylife):
Last night was the first real rain of the winter in Los Angeles… Dave, Our PA, has decided to let me off the hook, and now remembers me when ordering lunch. Instead, he’s set his sights on Jen, and has consistently forgotten to get her order… There was some horrible accident on the freeway this morning, and everyone was late to work… A majority of the people who’ve seen the new Bond agree that it’s great… I was in a mall yesterday, and I overheard a couple of friends talking about Brothers & Sisters. It was one of the coolest things that could’ve happened in a mall – even better than getting that good parking space. You know, the one right next to all the handicapped spaces that makes you want to raise your hands in victory when you get out of the car… Show progress: 112 editing, 113 shooting, 114 writing, 115 breaking. Looks impressive, doesn’t it? That’s right. We’re rock stars.

we missed you this week! keep up the good work =]

We definitely missed you.
And thank you for explaining why "Light the Lights" was delayed until Dec. 10th. At least now we can understand why we have to wait so long for a new episode.
So why did ABC start with a rerun episode with episode 3 "Affairs of State" for Dec. 3rd airing?

We did miss the show this week. I have a quick question. Why is last week's episode referred to as 111 if it was the ninth epiosde to air? I'm curious to hear about how these production numbers work with respect to the order in which the episodes air.
And congratulations! I just read that "Brothers & Sisters" is one of three nominees for the People's Choice Awards as favorite new drama. Hooray!

Any more news on a makeup showing of last week's episode 9 (mistakes were made part 2)? Some of us are dedicated viewers and we'd love to see it before next week's episode!
PS. Why aren't B&S episodes available on the website? It's much better than most of those shows anyway-

Phew! I am absolutely ecstatic the show will be back on 12/10.
I had B&S withdrawals yesterday. No more shows other than B&S in the B&S time slot (please).
The show is smart, thought provoking, and the cast is phenominal. LOVE IT.

It has been awhile since I've been interested enough to watch Network TV in the evening. I love this show. I love the cast. Keep up the good work!

Cliff and Peter, can't wait to see your "handiwork" on the 10th. The preview for the episode looked wonderful.
And having your first episode in the can is a huge accomplishment - congrats!
Yes, count me as another who is already addicted to this amazing show.

I love Brothers & Sisters! It's one of those shows that will be on TV for many years. I feel like I've known the characters forever, even in the first episode. The cast is brilliant and the story lines are captivating. I was very nervous when B&S wasn't on, so thank you for keeping us informed of what's to come. Thank you for making this great show!

I love my life - even more now.
So Cool! Just when I was going to sign off and do what normal people do at this hour – go to sleep, I did my blog rounds and checked one last time… Now I’m so charged up that you chose one of my names for “formerly-known-as-Tidbits, I have to come down from feeling so excited.
How about an "Ojai Food Co." hat, autographed by my two favorite cast member(s)? That would be Matthew Rhys and Luke MacFarlane. I know, I know...that would mean you’d have to have Scotty come back. How many out there want Scotty back?
Okay, if you can’t get Luke to sign it, please could it be Matthew and Sally Field? Tell her I love her too - it’s just that MAGIC between Kevin and Scotty has a soft place in my heart.
I’d be more grateful than I am already.
Read my reviews of BROTHERS AND SISTERS at tv.com and my BROTHERS AND SISTERS blog at tvguide.com. I love you all!

Great show! Nothing like it on TV by far! I like that the characters are very realistic, opposite of Desperate Housewives. Kind of making you wish all families were that big and stick like that together.

Yes B&S nominated as best new series for a Peoples Choice Award.

Ok, your website says B & S is on this Sunday, Dec 3, but your saying not until Dec 10, so can you please tell me which is right and please, please tell me I don't have to wait two weeks to see B & S, I'm already suffering withdrawal here! Also, I must say I'm extremely disappointed with ABC not doing ANY promotions about B & S as to when it's on again - unbelievable. They need to correct that. Thanks for keeping us informed!
Faithful viewer!

Welcome back. I missed Brothers & Sisters big time on Sunday. Even though it just started in September, it doesn't feel like Sunday without it.

last epi we watched was not 111, but 109 :( I miss you soooo much :( my weeks are not the same, I crawl out of my skin :( my coffee doesn't taste the same, christmas lights are a blur, and the lack of kevin and scotty makes the air too thick

My interior designer says I have to look at the dining chairs on the set. Can you share with me who makes them and what kind of fabric?
I look forward to seeing the show this coming Sunday...for more than just dining chairs!

Betty, a repeat of B&S is on this Sunday (the third episode, "Affairs of State").
The following Sunday, the 10th, will feature the next new episode, "Light the Lights."
Posted by: Scott | November 28, 2006 at 11:37 AM
Glad you're back and that production is progressing. However, you have neglected to tell us when we can see Mistakes Were Made, Part 2. Because of human error some of us missed it when our TiVos thought it had already recorded the episode. I don't want to see the next episode without seeing Mistakes Were Made, Part 2. I would skip chapter 8 in a novel, why would I want to skip it in television.
Posted by: Harriet | November 28, 2006 at 01:26 PM
Thank you Scott, I appreciate it. I guess a repeat is better than no Brothers & Sisters at all, but ABC really needs to step up to the plate and advertise for this show.
Posted by: Betty | November 28, 2006 at 02:57 PM
Yes, please update us on when/how we can see the second part of "Mistakes Were Made". Remember, the human error that caused our Tivos to malfunction was on the production side. :)
