Welcome to Season 2...

Hey Felmoians!  Sorry for the delay in starting the blog up again.  I do have a good excuse - I was actually writing my first episode for the new season.  We started filming it last week, with our new producer/director Bob Berlinger directing, and I have to say, it is looking great.

So, let's get your questions out of the way - we will premiere at 10pm on Friday, October 12th.  ABC just announced this at the Television Critic Association press tour this week.  That will be our time slot until I am told otherwise.  10pm, Fridays.  Spread the word.  Let's hope we get to stay there for a bit so that everyone can find us again!

The episode that we are filming now will be seen first up as our season premiere, then it will be followed by the five episodes that were shot last season and that our New Zealand friends have been so happily vocal about - glad you are liking them down under, people!  I do not know how this will work for you guys who have already seen these five episodes - I hope you get to see our new season opening episode, but I will have to check and get back to you.  We will have 27 episodes this year (the full 22 order, plus these five)...plenty of MIT to love!

We did a panel at the TCA's, where we got to talk to the critics.  Anne, James, Seana, Ty (Sam),
Scott (Cash), John and Lauren all flew down from Vancouver to participate with me.  I have to say, we have great support from the critics and I have to thank them for keeping the word out about us.  Check out photos online of Anne at the after party - she looked stunning.

The writers are hard at work breaking stories for this season.  Lots of twists and turns this year.  And Kelli Williams will be joining our cast, which we are really excited about.  She plays a married marine biologist that works with Jack.  I want this season to feel really satisfying in terms of taking Marin places that she hasn't been (emotionally and physically) and really delving into the lives of the other characters.  Jane and Plow Guy are going to have a really fun arc and wait 'til you see what happens with Jerome.  And of course, Jack and Marin.  Ah, Jack and Marin.  So different, but so pulled to each other.  And then there's Cash, who has a big secret.  And yes, Stuart will be back as well.  So, strap in.  It's going to be a great ride!

And thanks for still writing to the blog during the summer.  We read every post.  I know you guys would rather be sitting out in a lawn chair drinking a beer.  Or a cosmo?  What do you guys drink?  These days I'm favoring infused vodkas.

Love from Elmo,
Jenny

Jenny,
Great to hear the news you are now filming Season 2. I am looking forward to the new episodes (October doesn't seem that far away). I hope you do a Christmas/Holiday story line. It could add to the drama and the very complicated relationships you are obviously creating.

PS: While waiting for fall season, I am liking anything with vodka in it too.

LONI

YOU GUYS SHOULD NOT GO TO FRIDAYS, IT WILL KILL THE SHOW AND I LOVE THE SHOW AND DO NOT WANT TO SEE IT DIE. PLEASE, PLEASE TRY ANOTHER NIGHT.

MiT fan

I have only one request - Make it more funny. I remember the first couple episodes, when Marin was getting in some funny situations ALL the time :)
And I'm soo happy about Jane appearing more often :)

I can't wait for the new season to begin this October! Keep up the great writing and bringing such great story lines to us each week. Please don't leave us hanging with Jack and Marin! We Love Them!!!!

I was so happy to see a new blog, so very very happy! I cannot wait for the new season to start. I saw you on ET Canada tonight with James and Anne, they look so beautiful and in love. You look great as well, very slim. Can you give us some news on potential DVD release dates? Thanks!

Amanda Buffalo

Wow, what are the odds that I come to catch up on my favorite little blog to find a new entry. Yowza! I like it!

So basically...I miss you guys!!! I really do.

Thank goodness for reruns, that btw I still have on my DVR from the first go round. You're just that good! I have watched & rewatched the "friends after sex" (my favorite episode) more times this last 2 weeks than I'd like to admit.

I hope you guys do some major promotions. As much as I like it being just my little favorite show, I've been spreading the word like crazy...people have got to watch this fabu show! And I want to see the actors, ahem James ahem, on the talk shows. Push it people! Let's get this train of spunk on the roll!

Rock on with your bad selves & keep us updated!

Diana

I am love, love, loving the reruns!!! They are fantastic especially since I missed a few of these episodes. PLEASE tell me that they will keep running until season 2 starts!! I want to see them all! Sounds like season two will be awesome. Can't wait! Also please give us a hint if there will be a DVD released. I would buy it in a heartbeat and I have never considered doing that for a tv show before. I am so in love with Men in Trees! Thank You to everyone involved in this show!

Amazing job so far with season 1 (my husband and I managed to sneak an early look at the final five and they are awesome!). Cannot wait to see next season! Love the set up and the teasers of what's to come. This show just keeps getting better. The acting is amazing. Such complex characters and they are so real.

P.S. This summer's refreshments include sparkling white wine, gin and tonic and the ever classic cold beer (we are Canadian).

can't wait, can't wait...CAN NOT WAIT!!! mid-october..yuck! that's over two more months!! oh, and in the summer, it's all about the margarita!

Great to hear progress is underway with Season 2...although I hope things don't get all confusing for the non-American viewers in terms of us seeing this latest ep you have filmed in the "wrong" place. Very odd.

I hope you guys all realise that, on the whole, us New Zealanders have tried very hard to be as vague as possible in what we have posted here... so as not to let any cats out of any bags. Come October/November you will be back to viewing episodes that the rest of the world hasn't seen... and it will be IMPOSSILBE for the rest of us to remain spoiler free, if we wish to read these blogs and take part in online discussions etc. That did need to be said, in my opinion. We have been very good at "zipping it", I think, and if people got spoiled because of things us Kiwi's have said, then they must have gone searching out such spoilers.

On to the new snippetts of information in this latest blog:
I have no idea who Kelli Williams is, but I hope she is not yet another spanner in the works, so to speak.

I am very pleased to see that you want this season to be really satisfying for Marin. After "everything", I sure hope so!!!

Jane and Plow Guy on a really fun arc - GREAT. I love those two.

Jerome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sheesh, if you are referring to the events of the finale here, Jenny, then I agree... I could not believe my eyes!!!

Cash has a big secret!!! Very interesting... I think this might be related to the finale, also... I did wonder about "that".

Great that Stuart will be back, also.

You didn't mention the pastor... does he stick around?

And you didn't mention Annie or Patrick, or the pub, or the pub owners!! I am VERY much wondering about what happens with them all.

Also, in one of your earlier blogs you mentioned that when you got the news that a 2nd season had the go-ahead, you sent your assistant up a mountain to deliver the good news to the cast who were filming up that mountain. I thought that you were referring to the finale when you said that... but for the life of me I could not think what scene you were referring to. In some future blog when that scene airs in the U.S., could you say something about that... like point it out. Thanking you.

All the very best to you and your team for coming up with some great stories full of laughter, joy, hope, connection, and community for Season 2.

Goodness only knows when we will see another episode "down under", however. I may need to find "another" way of seeing the new eps ;-)

Suzanne from Vancouver

Thanks so much for the update Jenny. I'm waiting anxiously for season 2, I've had MAJOR withdrawls for the past few months!!!! So glad to hear that we have even more MIT to look forward to this season -- can't wait to see what happens!!!! I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

MIT Islandwatcher

Sooooo glad to hear when you all are coming back. Can't wait, well guess i can being that i have. Yes, Anne and James do look go together at the TCA's. Gotta get cable back to watch soon. Told my sister when you come back and she is catching up on reruns now. Thanks again for new info.

Felmoberman

Long Island Iced Tea is my favorite, but too hard to make from scratch, so give me a good G & T or a long neck and I'm fine. Or just plain ol' cold water if I'm with the kidlets

I'm looking forward to October like you wouldn't believe. I just hope that we're not going to have any more love triangles, though it looks like that's the direction we're going. *sigh* Just how "happily" is that happily married woman really?

Anyway, it'll be worth it to get my tied-for-favorite show back.

MIT fan in Orlando, FL

It's great to hear that MIT's will air for a 2nd season. A few of us at work were beginnig to wonder if we would ever get to see Elmo again! MIT is a brilliantly entertaining and I can hardly wait to see the new shows!

Sara J

I've seen the last five and loved 'em, and can't wait to see what happens to everyone. The show is such a mood-lifter (even in its "darker" moments)! And please tell the Powers That Be to offer the eps online or thru iTunes, so all my viewing will count! :-) For a drink, I like an "Elmotini:" vanilla vodka, godiva white, and clear creme de cacao...sweet & warming, like my favorite town! :-)

Flamingo Kid

October 12th! It's on my calendar!!!

Jennifer K.

Wow, 27 episodes sounds wonderful; I'm anxiously awaiting October! The new season sounds really great. I agree with an earlier post - keep the show funny and light. Oh, and I'm especially happy we'll have more Jane and Plow Guy!!

Jamie

Can't WAIT!!! I do hope that ya'll will advertise the show very often during commercials, so people will know about it.

Sierra

Thanks for the update, but you still haven't answered the question about when/if Season 1 will be out on DVD!

elizabeth, md

Woo-Hoo!! Can't wait for season two!

Joan Motchkavitz

I don't care what night this show is on. I love it and will just tape an episode If I am traveling.
Please let us know if the date and time changes.
Thanks, This is a really great show with wonderful acting.

Hi Jenny,
Always looking forward to hear from you about the show. And Good Luck to you and the cast/crew members for the new season.

I am glad to see that the schedule for MIT is now set. Fridays at 10pm will be just fine for me.

As far as my thoughts for the new season, I would like to see more of John Amos (Buzz). I enjoy his character. And I like the complexity you are adding to the Jack/Marin relationship. The more you keep up the tension between them the better. May be you can even bring back Lynn into the picture(Season 3!!). Not sure the other Felmonians agree with me on this.

As far as adult beverages, I am partial to red wine. In fact, I have a nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that I plan to open when I watch the Season 2 opener.

jan

PLEASE...don't let this get screwed up abc moving it around...friday is OK but no more....this is the greatest and most different show that anyone has come up with for years...we all LOVE IT!!! thank you...we all have to keep spreading the word...I do everyday...I could take it as a daily show and still would want more....
