I know, I know… A blog by Jenny Bicks

April 10, 2007

I get it. Your confused about when we’re gonna be back on the air. You’re Felmos. You’re concerned. My Dad is very concerned. I think he is threatening to sue the network. Which I think one does when one is a lawyer with time on his hands. Well I hate to say it, but I don’t have the answers. Here’s what I do know—we have been picked up (early) for a second season. We will be back with another 22 episodes (add that up—27 episodes you haven’t seen yet!) This is hugely great news and gets us through these short-term moments when we don’t know what to tell friends when they ask when their next fix of MIT is coming. We will be on in the fall with a big long season (and—God and the network willing—a time slot we get to stay in without all this change). However, we will not be on this April, and perhaps not in May either. This has nothing to do with how the network feels about our little show. It has everything to do with giving other shows a chance to be seen—on the biggest night of the week for ABC. So yeah, it’s frustrating. But let’s try and keep the big picture. And be happy that we are not a show waiting to hear their fate for next year.

There are rumors about a possible 2 or 3 episodes airing in May on Thursday nights. This may happen, but I would not bet on it. Personally, I am little worried now that if we did air, no one would know we were on, and you guys might miss it all together. That would suck. I do promise AS SOON as I know more information, I will put it up here. So keep checking back, okay? (And keep telling the network what you think—they do listen).

We have wrapped production on our last episode of this first season, and I really can’t wait for you guys to see it (and the other 4 you haven’t seen yet!) We had quite the wrap party in Vancouver last weekend (just ask Mike Love, props). Tomorrow night, we throw another party in LA for all the crew down here. We MIT peeps, we like to get our party on. Man, do we have a great crew. Hard working, kind, and easy on the eyes.

So, keep the faith, people. It’ll be okay. We will return stronger, funnier, and with added calcium and Vitamin B. That’s my promise to you guys.

Write me and let me know what you want to see more of next season, okay? We are starting to break stories…

Jenny

Neah

I love MIT! It sucks that I wont be seeing it in April or may... but HOORAY for the second season!

denise

I am going to forget why it is that I like this show since it has been off the air so long! Seriously, do the networks think we want to wait for 4 months between episodes.

I think I am going back to HBO

Kara

What awesome news that y'all are coming back next season! It's a real bummer that your show has been in a holding pattern...I miss the constant twist turns and Marin's witty commentary. Okay, I miss hottie Jack too! Your unique story line and diverse, down to earth characters are very much appreciated. Thanks and keep those creative juices flowing.

I am not going to watch ever again anything an abc if you play like that!!!!! In realy hate you abc and regret that I started to watch men in trees !!!!!!!!! Never again !!!!

A.

Thanx for the comment but ey, why promissing that you'll be on the 12th of April (for sure!) and then bringing this news? I understand the reasons but still.... not fair!
Still happy that there will be a 2nd season but after this i maybe don't really trust that either.... Please show me i am wrong!!! I love this show, that's probably delivering me this big disappointment...
To answer your request: please, give us some more Marin and Jack.....

DJ

Great to hear from you again Jenny. Thanks so much for your blogs. You don't have to bother with them, especially not now that you know you're back for a 2nd season regardless... but the fact that you keep coming back here to connect with your viewers/Felmos, well I think that is fantastic. No wonder you can write such amazing stories in MiT when you so clearly "get" people and know how to connect with us!!

Anyway - you asked what we want to see more of in Season 2!!!! OMG - you've opened a can of worms now!!!!

OF COURSE - we want, no NEED, to see that Lynn situation resolved, permanently!!!! And by that I don't mean have Jack actually go through with marrying her. THAT would not do, and I don't know how you'd ever bring his character back from the depths of blackness after something like that. To get over this Lynn business, I need to see Jack really understand how much he has hurt Marin, even if he didn't mean to. He needs to see that she is worth making sacrifices for, and that she is a "strings" kind of a girl, but not one to be toyed with. HE needs to be the one to walk away from Lynn.

I would like to see more about what makes Patrick's mum tick, too. She is one hilarious lady, and I think is very intelligent actually, but is hiding behind that tough as nails facade for some reason.

Also, it would be good for Jack to go with Marin to New York... to see her in her own environment, meet some of her NY friends, get to know how she ticks etc. All on the way back into her good books after Lynn MOVES OUT (in ep 2.1, if not before).

Also, it is important that we see Marin learn more about herself... without all her personal development centering around men. I'd love to see her develop a really good platonic friendship with someone like Ben, who I love, btw.

I'd also love to have some indigenous "stuff" in the show... including new characters.

That's enough from me... better let everyone else have a say ;-)

Thanks for listening!!

Jane

I love the show, but it's never going to make it if it doesn't get back on the air soon....what is ABC thinking? Has anyone signed contracts for next year? Maybe TNT or USA will "pick up" the show, it would be wise to look to another network, ABC is not a good employer for this show.

Connie

MIT is listed in the Minneapolis TV Guide for this Thurs(4/12) at 9pm. Direct TV also has you listed. So it's not true? I'm so disappointed.

Sandy

You know what I want to see more of? CASH! Literally. The less he has on, the better. That man is HAWT!!

Gator

Men in Trees is one of the most realistic and enjoyable programs on TV in several years. It should be on everyone's 'must-watch' list. i am a retired middle-aged businessman who is still looking for my first (and only) wife. please get it back on the air....thank you....

Hi,

I'm still glad to hear that we will certainly have a second season... And I hope that the network will keep this and the next season on air without major gaps or surprises.

ABC: Those gaps affects fans... and MIT is shaking the entire world!

Thanks a lot for the info, Jenny!

We're looking forward to hear from you soon,

A fellow Felmo from Buenos Aires.-

Just to let you know, my TV listing says MIT is on Thursday April 12th at 10:00 in the Toronto, Canada area, (N) meaning new. I hope they are right.

melissa

thanks for the update, jenny! i was beginning to worry that we hadn't heard from you. us felmos are such passionate fans!! we were jonesing for an update on our fave show. so sad that there are no answers as to when MIT will be back this season. what a bummer that we may have to wait until the fall! ahhh!

what about getting more episodes of MIT here on ABC for us all to watch and get our fix? it might also help with recruiting new viewers! also, are there any plans to release the first season on DVD? i promise you i'd be the first in line to buy it. with all this nonsense at ABC, i just feel the least they can do is throw us a bone-kwim? by letting us re-watch the epi's that were already aired. thanks again for the update. i'll be checking in for another one...hopefully soon to say we're getting a few epis in may! (maybe wishful thinking, but i'm an optimist!)

Jan

It just doesn't seem like a good Thursday night any more. When MIT was on I watched only ABC, but now I'm not watching it period on Thursday nights. There should be some personnel changes at the higher levels of ABC. Some bad decisions and I bet it's hurting the network. We sure miss MIT and thanks for letting us know whats up. Waiting for the return!

Carolina Kelly

LOVE THE SHOW!! Thank you for writing a show that's not violent, centered on autopsies, yet made for adults. Please, please, please return Jack's backbone to him. Do we all honestly believe he would go back to his ex that's pregnant with another man's child? The writing at the beginning of the season was great and fresh, and please keep up the AWESOME work!! We all love the show!

rose

Jenny, why can't we at least she "ALL" the shows for this past season on the internet, then? The ones that have already been shown on TV. That we hold alot of us over until the fall, we can just keep watching the 17 episodes over and over. (Believe me, I would watch quite a few times) Everyone wants to know the answer to this question, please answer it for us.

Lisa

Thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping us updated. It is so frustrating to not know anything. I understand where ABC is coming from, but it doesn't stop the pain! We miss you!

Cole in Canada

I'm going through major MIT withdrawel here and the fact that we can't even watch full episodes on the web up here in Canada is even more frustrating! I am so happy to hear that you have been picked up for next year. From the moment this show started I was worried the rest of the continent would miss how wonderful MIT is! Can't wait to see everyone again!
Faithfully Yours!

Please, Please, Please give us more Men in Trees! I have been going crazy waiting for the next episode to come back on. As a "Desperate Housewife" here in Colorado it has been a long, long winter and not having my FAVORITE show on TV is making me even crazier. Thanks for creating such a great story that "takes me away" for a while. As a fellow mountain girl it's nice to see that TV is recognizing "Real Men" as the humble gentlemen of this country, not pompous surgeons. Keep up the great work. Let me know if there is any place else I can write to help you keep going! Say "hello" to all in Elmo!

This is so frustrating that I'm not sure I'll be able to get back into the show once it's on again. ABC has big problems with keeping the momentum for GREAT shows.

Olga

I am sooooo dissapointed with these news. Cut a season like that, with no more information is terrible for the viewers. I feel like the network doesn't care about us :(

Do they read this or do we have to write to them somewhere else?

Anyway, thanks to the crew for the fantastic gap you filled up!

Johanne

Why delay this show which we got used to watch and love? It sure would be nice to see the end of Season 1 this spring!!! Please ABC wake-up and give them a time slot so we can see a few episodes in April or May, then we'll enjoy the summer break and cannot wait to see them again in September!

Jill

What I enjoy/ed most about MIT:
First, Marin and Jack. Especially when they were just "friends". They have such get chemistry...both as friends and as much more! We need more Marin and Jack!! Ideally, they should be together but if they can't be together then at least have them be buddies!!
Second, the comedy. The characters, the wilderness, the animals...keep it all humorous!!
And, lastly Lynn really should move on. Jack doesn't have any true feelings for her anymore. He just feels obligated to her. She needs to pick up her stuff and move on.

lovemit/florida

So glad your keeping us posted of all the goings on and not going on... I love the show and can't wait for it to return... Please keep up the great blog and cont., keeping us informed...

Kristene and Joanne

When will MIT be back. We miss it! You left us hanging, not fair. We get totally into the show and it's gone. What's up ABC?
