We’re REALLY still here! By Jenny Bicks
March 22, 2007
This is a fun blog for me to write tonight, as today we got the official call from the network that we are COMING BACK FOR A SECOND SEASON. As Patrick would say: “huge.” Really huge.
We are thrilled to get an early pick-up and it comes at a great time—we are filming our last episode of this season starting next week, so now we can shoot the thing not thinking the whole time, “ah geez, this will be the last time we shoot in the Chieftain,” or “I better load up on that fried cheese from craft service,” or “I guess I better go say goodbye for good to that extra with the really long beard.”
I had a very Elmo moment today as I tried, from LA, to get in touch with Anne in Vancouver to tell her the great news before she read it on the Internet somewhere. (It happens—my own father in New York City e-mailed me congratulations before anyone from the network had reached me!) So turns out we were shooting on top of a very big mountain outside Vancouver today where they get zero cell reception (like all of Elmo). I had to send my lovely and courageous Vancouver assistant Asha up that mountain with a bottle of champagne and a note and the direction to seem very, very sad and not like she was carrying the biggest happy secret in the world. And contraband alcohol. She apparently may have a future on the stage or screen, as Anne and the crew were completely shocked and surprised. What a thrill it is to share with your lead actress, who has worked so hard and brought so much talent and spirit to your project, that she gets to do this all again next year.
So, to answer your next questions: No, I don’t know if this means we will stay on Thursday nights for next year. We will know that answer in May. Yes, I believe we will be back on the air this year by mid-April (not so far away—do your taxes and then we’ll be back!) And you bet this pick-up has everything to do with you guys—the Fans. The Felmos (get it? Fans and Elmo?) The Doberman’s who didn’t quit. Our heartfelt thanks to you and your support. Keep it coming. Thank ABC for their good taste. And when you’re done, make sure you check back here—we’ll be waiting with a cold Chieftain longneck beer and a smile. And really bad cell phone reception.
Jenny

Just hurry and return to the air.

Yea!! I was beginning to wonder...never know what goes on with TV egzex...don't want to know :-) I'm just glad to hear your're coming back...you, and all of the cast (and crew), does such a great job at what you do, in my opinion :-) This is my 1st "blog" ever...I hope that tells you and your bosses something :-) In fact, only reason I found out about your blog site is because I was wanting to know what happened to the show! I don't need or want to get addicted to tv shows, but your's is worth it! Keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Hope

Wow, that makes me so happy. My husband has a million shows he watches but i only have a daytime show and Men in trees. I can't remember how long it has been since there has been a show that makes me just smile inside & out. Everyone involved in the writing, the cast, and the crew must have just the RIGHT combination to make this show seep into your heart and mind!! All the love, keep it up!!!!

Great timing. I just got on-line to write ABC to tell them to pick MIT up for next season, went to your blog and there was the GREAT news. Congratulations!! I'm thrilled for you, your cast and crew and I'm thrilled for me! I don't watch much T.V., but I never miss MIT. Looking forward to your continuation in April and next season!

Jenny - you write the BEST blogs.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!
What fantastic news. I'm so pleased for you all. How great that Asha got to hand-deliver the great news to Anne and the rest of the cast up that mountain (now you've got me theorising wildly about what could be happening in the show for them to be up a mountain!!).
I agree with you 100% - Anne Heche deserves an award for the talent and spirit she has portrayed in Marin. I hope she is very proud. The show just wouldn't be the show without her amazing talent.
Same goes for you and your amazing talent in the writing/visioning department. GREAT storylines and insight into the human spirit and "what makes us tick": people, relationships, belonging, hope.
I am sooooo relieved and very very happy that there is an MiT2. I have no doubt that this 2nd year will cement your place in the INTERNATIONAL television industry, for many more years to come. I know I only started watching Grey's during it's 2nd season and then had to buy the 1st season on DVD to catch up. The same will happen with MiT... as more and more people "find" MiT, it will be like a snowball gathering pace and volume.
"Felmo" is indeed a force to be reckoned with... encompassing people from all around the world!!!
I CAN'T WAIT to see what you have in store for Elmo, and most especially for Jack and Marin (and Lynn, seeing as the 3 of them come as a package deal at the moment, unfortunately!!). No matter how much us fans bemoan the very existence of Lynn - and Jack's decisions regarding her - the storyline has definitely kept people's interests up. I know you guys as writers will continue to remain true to the characters who we've come to love, and will keep them real in their interactions and personal journeys as the 2nd season unfolds. It is that authenticity/insight about normal human behaviour that keeps up coming back week after week. Keep up the fantastic work!!!

I juat love love love this show! Not only is it a beautiful show to watch, but the characters are wonderful. I think a lot of people dream of what Marin does. Taking a huge leap, being a fish out of water and finding an adventerous new life in a beautiful part of the world. Having great shoes, clothes and a huge bank account just makes it that much more fun. This show is one of my all time fav's a nice break from the usual comedy or reality shows. Very entertaining and well written. It's one of the shows that I actually sit and watch - and never miss an episode.
